Mathare United coach Francis Kimanzi has revealed the reason why he signed a free-agent Kevin Kimani.

Kimani was release by Sofapaka at the end of the 2018 season but returned to the Slum Boys.

But after impressing in his second debut in Mathare United’s victory against Chemelil Sugar over the weekend, where he provided an assist, coach Kimanzi revealed that the diminutive midfielder’s record, last season, influenced his decision to sign him.

“He is a player who comes with a lot of value and we are happy he was able to show that. He had a very good record last season in terms of statistics for assists and goals, that’s why we brought him on board

“As long as he continues to produce such performances then there is no reason why he can’t be fielded. He is a big asset for this team,” he added of the player he has worked with before at Tusker.

On the overall team performance: “It’s a positive result given that this is the first competitive match after a long break. We are satisfied with the performance, we have a good group of technical players and they showed that they can work well together,” observed Kimanzi.
