Juve & Man City target Ndombele 'can be a new Pogba'

Tanguy Ndombele "can be a new Paul Pogba" according to Lyon coach Bruno Genesio, who is unsurprised that the France midfielder has been linked with Juventus.

Ndombele has thrived since arriving at Lyon – initially on loan from Amiens – in 2017 and has impressed in the Champions League as well as Ligue 1 this term, also catching the eye of Manchester City and Juve among others.

The 22-year-old received his first call up for Les Bleus in October and Genesio believes Ndombele has every chance of replicating his compatriot Pogba in going on to star at Juve should a move to Turin materialise.

Gueye hopes for another PSG opportunity

Idrissa Gueye has not given up hope of joining Paris Saint-Germain after Evertonrejected two bids for him in January.

Toffees manager Marco Silva confirmed late in the transfer window that the club had knocked back a £22 million ($29m) offer for him, but the French outfit returned with a larger bid reported to be around £26m hours before the deadline.

Senegal international Gueye was flattered to attract the eyes of the runaway Ligue 1 leaders but disappointed by Everton's decision not to let him go.

Wolves duo Coady and Doherty sign contract extensions

Conor Coady and Matt Doherty have signed contract extensions with Wolvesuntil June 2023, the Premier League club have confirmed.

Stars of Wolves' Championship promotion campaign, club captain Coady and wing-back Doherty have excelled in the top flight under Nuno Espirito Santo.

Liverpool academy graduate Coady, 25, has been an ever-present, with Wolves seventh in the Premier League table, while 27-year-old Doherty brought up his 200th league appearance earlier this season for a club he joined from Bohemians in 2010.

Hudson-Odoi should fight for Chelsea place - Zola

Callum Hudson-Odoi has been given "plenty of reasons to feel involved and wanted" at Chelsea, assistant coach Gianfranco Zola says, as he urged the youngster to do more to earn playing time.

The 18-year-old has featured 13 times in all competitions for the Blues this season but has not started any of his four appearances in the Premier League.

His playing time situation led to him to seek a transfer to a very interested Bayern Munich, which promised to return for him in the summer after their January bids were knocked back.

However Zola says Chelsea is the best place for the teen and encouraged him to fight for his place in the squad among a coaching staff that values him.

Timbers near deal for River Plate full-back

The Portland Timbers are nearing a deal to sign full-back Jorge Moreira from River Plate, according to MLSsoccer.com.

The Timbers will use targeted allocation money acquire Moreira on a loan which the MLS club will have the option to make permanent at the end of the season.

The 29-year-old Paraguay international has been working his way back from a knee injury that kept him out 10 months. 

Valverde believes he has earned extra responsibility with Barca

Ernesto Valverde feels his contract extension with Barcelona is proof the club are willing to give him additional responsibility and is relishing the opportunity to continue on in his role. 

Despite winning a Liga and Copa del Rey double in his first season at the club, there was speculation this season could be his last with Barca with talk further fueled by reports he did not agree with some of the players brought in.

However, Valverde has put those reports to bed by penning a one-year extension and declared himself delighted with the contract while also stating his belief it shows the club has entrusted him with more responsibility going forward.

Whitecaps close in on Montero move

The Vancouver Whitecaps are closing in on a move to bring Fredy Montero back to the club from Sporting CP.

According to MLSSoccer.com, Montero is set to join his former club on a free transfer after recording 13 goals and six assists in 33 games while on loan with the Whitecaps in 2017.

Montero has also played for the Seattle Sounders as well as Chinese side Tianjin TEDA.

Liverpool's Allan joins Fluminese

Liverpool's Allan Rodrigues de Souza has moved to Fluminese on loan for the rest of the season, the club announced.

Allan spent the first half of the season with Eintracht Frankfurt, making four appearances for the Bundesliga side.

The midfielder originally joined the Reds in 2015 and has been sent on five loan spells without a senior appearance for the Premier League side.

Orlando City linked with Nani

De Ligt move depends on Umtiti's fitness

Any potential move for Mathijs De Ligt by Barcelona reportedly depends on the fitness of Samuel Umtiti, according to Mundo Deportivo.

The La Liga leaders currently have six centre-halves, but Thomas Vermaelen's contract expires at the end of the season and Jeison Murillo's loan deal will not be made permanent, leaving the club with Umtiti, Gerard Pique, Clement Lenglet and youngster Jean-Clair Todibo.

However, Umtiti has been struggling with a knee problem and if he is to be sidelined for an extended period of time it could force Barcelona to move for the Ajax wonderkid sooner rather than later.

Newcastle made January bid for Foden

Newcastle United were reportedly one of several Premier League clubs to see an approach for Phil Foden rejected by Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola, according to The Sun.

Southampton and Bournemouth were also linked with approaches, but despite the young midfielder's lack of game time at City, Guardiola is keen to use him in cup competitions and continue his development at the club.

Newcastle also already have two domestic loanees at the club in the form of Kenedy and Salomon Rondon, so one - most likely the former - would have had to leave to facilitate any move to the north-east. 

Fekir in talks over new Lyon deal

Nabil Fekir is reportedly on the brink of signing a new contract with Lyon, according to the Mirror.

The Frenchman was on the verge of joining Liverpool last summer, but the deal broke down - supposedly over a failed medical.

However, it seems that the attacking midfielder is now happy to stay at a club he almost left and will continue to contribute to his side's cause, having already scored seven goals and notched three assists in 18 Ligue 1 games.

Naismith considering MLS switch

On-loan Hearts forward Steven Naismith is considering a move to the MLS upon the expiry of his contract at parent club Norwich City, according to the BBC.

Naismith has scored nine goals and registered three assists in 16 league games this season, and he has been a crucial player for Craig Levein's side, who won just once in a spell of eight league games when the forward was injured, and have lost just twice in the competition when he has featured.

Levein, however, hopes that he can convince the player to sign a permanent deal and stay on for the foreseeable future.

United hopeful over imminent Rashford deal

Metro are reporting that Manchester United forward Marcus Rashford is close to signing a new deal with the club.

The likes of Chris Smalling, Phil Jones, Ashley Young and Anthony Martial have all agreed  fresh contracts at Old Trafford in recent weeks and it appears Rashford could be next in line.

The striker’s current deal runs until 2020, but United have an option to extend it by a further year, something the club are keen to do with rumours that Real Madrid are keeping an eye on the England international.

Tottenham in talks over Andersen deal

Tottenham met with representatives from Sampdoria on Wednesday, as they edge closer to a deal for Joachim Andersen.

Calciomercato claimed that Sampdoria vice-president Antonio Romei and club lawyer Paolo Busardo were in London yesterday to thrash out a deal.

Any deal for the youngster could cost Spurs as much as £22m ($28m), but the London club will have to fight off interest from Juventus and Inter for the Dane.

Bale has no plans to leave Real

Gareth Bale is not planning to leave Real Madrid this summer, despite facing the possibility of a 12-game ban for an obscene gesture he made to fans last week.

There has been speculation recently surrounding the Welshman’s future, but the Times are reporting that both club and player are happy with Bale’s current situation.

That will come as bad news to United, who have been long-term admirers of the former Tottenham man, and for Chelsea.

The Blues are reportedly so keen on securing Bale’s services they are willing to make him the highest-paid player in the Premier League.

No player would choose Arsenal over Chelsea claims Cole

Joe Cole has said players would prefer a move to Chelsea over London neighbours Arsenal given the Blues’ track record of winning trophies.

The former Chelsea man told BT Sport: “Because the expectation is that they [Chelsea] have always got to be there, which Chelsea have been for the last 20 years, it becomes a crisis quicker than it does at Arsenal. 

“With Arsenal, they’re probably not going to win anything, they’re in a 10-year transitional period. Chelsea demand to win things.

De Ligt urged to choose Liverpool

Ajax defender Matthijs de Ligt should join Liverpool, according to former Netherlands international Rene van der Gijp.

The 57-year-old believes De Ligt would be ideally suited to the Reds and could play alongside fellow countryman Virgil van Dijk.

“It would be great for Dutch football if those two defenders can play alongside each other for five to six years,” Van der Gijp told Dutch outlet Voetbal Primeur.

"Then you are getting the best centre-back pairing in Europe."

Son to be offered pay rise at Spurs

Tottenham forward Heung-min Son will be offered a fresh contract at the end of the season, despite only signing a new deal last summer.

Metro are reporting that the South Korean’s outstanding form over the past few months means he is likely to earn a new deal with a markedly increased wage.

Son’s current contract sees him earn £110,000 per week but a new an extension on that could reward the attacker will a weekly salary of £150,000.

Valverde signs new deal

Juve to offer Kean plus cash for De Ligt

Juventus are reportedly planning to offer young striker Moise Kean to Ajax as a makeweight in any potential deal for Mathijs De Ligt.

Paris Saint-Germain, Bayern Munich, Barcelona and Liverpool have all been linked with the impressive young centre-half, but Juventus hope that the addition of their own young talent will aid their cause in reaching an agreement.

Leeds pursued Jese signature in January

Barca youngster pens new deal

The 19-year-old has extended his terms to the summer of 2021, and his new contract includes a €30m (£26.4m/$33.8m) release clause.

Bowen: My loyalties lie with Hull

Chelsea believe they can lower €36m Higuain fee
