Gonzalez: Bradley and Altidore convinced me to join Toronto FC


Omar Gonzalez has said Michael Bradley and Jozy Altidore helped convinced him to join Toronto FC.

The 30-year-old defender signed with the MLS side on Monday, joining up with his fellow U.S. national team compatriots in Canada. 

Gonzalez won MLS Cup three times with the LA Galaxy prior to his move to Pachuca in January 2016, and had been in Liga MX since that transfer.

Lyon deny agreement with Madrid for Mendy


Lyon have denied reports they have reached an agreement with Real Madrid over a transfer for left-back Ferland Mendy.

The club took to their official Twitter account to make the statement, amid reports the 23-year-old was undergoing a medical with Madrid. 

Juventus director: We'll discuss Pogba with new coach


Juventus sporting director Fabio Paratici has said he will discuss a possible transfer for Paul Pogba with the club's new coach.

Manchester United midfielder Pogba has been linked with a move back to Juve, where he starred from 2012 to 2016.

But before any transfer business is done, Juve must find a replacement after parting ways with Massimiliano Allegri.

Rodriguez could leave West Brom for £5m


Jay Rodriguez could leave West Brom for just £5 million due to a release clause in his contract, reports The Telegraph.

The striker scored 22 goals for the Baggies in 2018-19, but the club fell just short of promotion to the Premier League when it lost in the playoffs to Aston Villa

Due to the club's failure to secure promotion Rodriguez could now leave for a reduced rate, with Burnley, Bournemouth and Leicester interested.


Rodrigo fuels City rumours by asking Atletico for 'space'


Rodrigo has asked Atletico Madrid to grant him "space", fuelling rumours of a move to Manchester City.

The 22-year-old midfielder is said to be high on Pep Guardiola's wish list as the club looks for a long-term replacement for Fernandinho. 

Rodrigo has a reported €70 million (£62m/$79m) release clause in his Atleti contract.

Ajax sign three youth players


Ajax have announced the signing of three youth players: Ar'jany Martha, Steven van der Sloot and Tunahan Tasci. 

Martha, a 15-year-old attacker, joins from Sparta Rotterdam while Van der Sloot, a16-year-old defender, arrives from Feyenoord.

Tasci, a 17-year-old striker from Tunisia, joins from the NEC Nijmegen academy.

Ronaldo gives green light to Sarri


Juventus star Cristiano Ronaldo has given his approval over the club's plan to hire Maurizio Sarri, reports Tuttosport.

Chelsea manager Sarri is poised to move back to Italy and take over for Massimiliano Allegri, who has departed Juve after five seasons.

Ronaldo is excited by the possibility of playing in Sarri's attacking system, believing it will allow him to continue excelling. 

Barca consider Semedo sale


Barcelona are considering selling Nelson Semedo after the defender asked to leave the club.

Semedo has been linked with a move to Atletico Madrid with the club having made an offer of €25 million (£22m/$28m) for his services.

Manchester City will loan Zack Steffen to Fortuna Dusseldorf next season, reports the Athletic.

The goalkeeper was sold to the Premier League side in January but has remained with the Columbus Crew this season.

Steffen is widely expected to be the U.S. national team's starting goalkeeper throughout this summer's Gold Cup.

Jagielka set to leave Everton


Phil Jagielka will leave Everton this summer after spending the last 12 years with the club.

The defender made 386 appearances for the Toffees, but featured just seven times in the Premier League this season.

Liverpool interested in De Ligt


The Reds will compete with Barcelona and Manchester United to sign the Ajax defender.

Liverpool are in the race to sign Matthijs de Ligt, reports Bild.

Following the club's Champions League triumph, the club is going to push to sign the Ajax defender, who would partner with Dutch team-mate Virgil van Dijk.

Barcelona have been seen as the favourites to sign de Ligt while Manchester United are also said to be interested. 

Emery wants summer overhaul of Arsenal defence


Laurent Koscielny, Nacho Monreal and Shkodran Mustafi could follow Stephan Lichsteiner out of Arsenal as Unai Emery targets a defensive rebuild.

The manager is looking to clear the decks in defence to fund some new arrivals, including potential moves for William Saliba, Samuel Umtiti and Aaron Wan-Bissaka.

Piscane signs new deal with Cagliari


Fabio Pisacane has signed a contract extension that will keep him with Cagliari through the 2020-21 campaign, the club announced.

The defender has been with Cagliari since 2015 and has made 114 appearances for the club.

Pisacane did not play in Serie A until the age of 30, but helped the club achieve promotion to the top flight in 2016.

Liverpool confirm Sturridge and Moreno departures


Liverpool have announced that Daniel Sturridge and Alberto Moreno will leave the club this summer.

The duo's contracts with the club expire this summer, and both will depart Anfield after helping the club secure the Champions League title this past weekend.

Xeka agrees to new Lille deal


Xeka has extended his time with Lille by signing a new contract on Tuesday, the club announced. 

The Portuguese midfielder had two goals in 27 matches for the club this season as Lille secured Champions League football by finishing second in the league.

" I feel good at LOSC, I really like this club, this city, this region. I am happy to extend with this great club," he said.

"We still have a lot to live together in the future. I will continue here. I am here and I have a lot of ambition with LOSC. I have a good relationship with the club and management. This extension also shows that the LOSC has confidence in me."

Benfica reject Napoli's Grimaldo offer


Benfiica have rejected Napoli’s opening offer for left-back Alex Grimaldo, according to Sport.

The Italian club offered €25 million ($28 million/£22.6 million) plus Mario Rui for the Spanish defender, but the Portuguese club have a higher valuation of the fullback.

Rui and Elseid Hysaj set to depart Napoli this summer, leaving the club in the market for fullbacks. 

Parma want Portuguese veteran Fernandes


Parma are interested in 33-year-old Portuguese midfielder Manuel Fernandes, according to DiMarzio.

The former Everton, Valencia and Besiktas midfielder was released at the end of the season by Lokomotiv Moscow, concluding a successful five-year spell which brought one Russian Premier League title and three Russian Cups.

Fernandes almost moved to Italy in 2010, but eventually went to Valencia after failing a medical at Inter.

Klopp could take Liverpool sabbatical - in 2022


Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp could take a leaf out of Pep Guardiola's book and take a sabbatical from the game - but not for another three years.

According to ESPN, he may be keen to take time out at the end of his current contract in 2022, though Liverpool remain keen to tie him down to a longer deal.

Liverpool bosses are now likely to be more tentative in their offer of a new deal, as they are keen not to put pressure on their enigmatic manager.

Stuani to decide between Barcelona and Nottingham Forest


Girona forward Cristhian Stuani is considering his options with clubs in Spain and England thought to be interested in his services.

The Uruguay international, formerly of Middlesbrough, has scored 40 La Liga goals in his last two seasons but is available for just €7 million (£6.2m) following Girona's relegation. Barcelona and Nottingham Forest are among the clubs to have been linked with him.

"I will try to make a very consensual decision to find the best in each moment for me and my family," he told Catalunya Radio. "So we'll see how the next few weeks will go."

Wantaway Malinovskyi puts Sporting on alert


Genk midfielder Ruslan Malinovskyi has admitted he would like to play in a higher quality league, report A Bola.

The 26-year-old Ukraine international won the Belgian First Division A with Genk last season but, with Sporting Lisbon interested in his services, is keen to move on to pastures new.

"I'm now 26 years old, it's the age when you need to take a step forward and try a stronger championship," he said. "After three years in Belgium, I think I'm ready for that."

Sporting are thought to be preparing a €10 million (£8.7m) bid.

James won't return to Bayern Munich


James wants out of Bayern

James Rodriguez won't be returning Bayern Munich, according to BILD.

CEO Karl-Heinz Rummenigge is reported to have confirmed the Colombian's desire to leave, with the Bundesliga champions not exercising their option to sign him permanently from Real Madrid.

Bayern could have made his loan move permanent for €42 million (£37m), but now will not take up that option. Now 27, it is thought his future still lies away from Madrid.


Basel sign defender Alderete


Basel have announced the signing of 22-year-old Paraguayan defender Omar Alderete from Huracan on a four-year contract.

"I am happy and proud that I can take this important step in my career," said Alderete. "I want to do my part to win more titles with Basel and to play in Europe."

Alderete has one cap to date for Paraguay, though he did not make their final squad for this month's Copa America in Brazil.

Billionaire Commisso set to buy Fiorentina


New York Cosmos owner Rocco Commisso is set to expand his portfolio with the acquisition of Serie A club Fiorentina, according to ANSA.

The Italian-American businessman met with current owners Diego and Andrea Della Valle in Milan on Tuesday to negotiate, and the takeover is expected to go ahead.

Commisso, 69, is the founder and owner of US cable television company Mediacom, and is estimated to be worth some $4.7 billion (£3.7bn/€4.2bn).

Burnley chase Boro defender Fry


Burnley's interest in Middlesbrough defender Dael Fry is concrete but managerless Boro have no desire to sell, according to LancsLive.

Sean Dyche is keen to take a second Boro academy product in the space of two seasons after buying Ben Gibson last summer, but Fry is seen as an important part of Boro's future, whoever takes charge at the club.

But with the Teesside club keen to offload their high earners, a sizeable bid could convince them to rethink their position on the 21-year-old.

Schalke make Dost enquiry


Bas Dost could be set for a return to the Bundesliga with A Bola reporting that David Wagner's Schalke have enquired about his availability.

Sporting are looking for a fee of around €20 million (£18m) for the 30-year-old, who has scored 93 goals in 123 games in all competitions since moving to Portugal three years ago.

The Dutch international previously spent four years in Germany with Wolfsburg, scoring 48 goals in 117 games.

Partey's father says midfielder wants to play in England


The father of Atletico Madrid midfielder Thomas Partey says that his son wants to play in England, amidst reported interest from Manchester United and Arsenal.

Speaking to Ghanaian radio station Enigye FM, Partey Sr. said: "I told him to go ahead in his career. If they do not value you where you are now, they can value you somewhere else. And that's why he would like to move to England if he has the opportunity."

Ghana international Partey is thought to be focusing on the Africa Cup of Nations before he makes any decision on his club career. His release clause at Atletico is set at €50 million (£44m).

Chiesa flattered by Juve, Inter interest


Fiorentina's young winger Federico Chiesa said he is focused on Italy's upcoming international fixtures - but admits that interest from Juventus and Inter is flattering.

“Interest from other clubs is nice,” he said at Italy’s training camp. “I’ve heard the news, but I’m focused on the national team. I’ve put my phone in airplane mode."

Chiesa has made 100 league appearances for Fiorentina, scoring 15 goals. He made his senior Italy debut last year and has 11 caps, but is expected to play at the European Under-21 Championship this summer.

City and Madrid interested in Japanese starlet


Manchester City and Real Madrid are weighing up a move for 18-year-old Japanese forward Takefusa Kubo, according to Nikkan Sports.

The teenager, who spent four years at Barcelona's La Masia academy, returned to Japan after a FIFA sanction against the club in 2015 but he is now free to move after turning 18.

Currently at FC Tokyo, Kubo has been nicknamed the 'Japanese Messi', though he is yet to make his senior international debut.

'Real or Barca the next stepping stone for Sterling'


Raheem Sterling has been told that Real Madrid or Barcelona are “the next stepping stone for him”, with Les Ferdinand expecting the Manchester Cityforward to reach the very top.

The ex-England international has told talkSPORT: "If he continues to have the success he’s having at Manchester City, then you could see a team like Real Madrid or Barcelona being the next stepping stone for him."

Napoli close on Grimaldo swap deal


Napoli are in negotiations with Benfica for the transfer of 23-year-old Spanish left-back Alex Grimaldo, according to Record.

It is reported that they will pay €25 million for Grimaldo, with Portuguese left-back Mario Rui going in the other direction.

Grimaldo came through the youth ranks at Valencia before moving to Barcelona at the age of 12, though he never played for the first team at Camp Nou. He impressed at Benfica this season, and was named in UEFA's Squad of the Season for the Europa League.

Inter 'agree terms' with Barella


Inter have agreed terms on a five-year contract with Cagliari's Italy international midfielder Nicolo Barella, according to Corriere dello Sport.

New manager Antonio Conte has turned his attention to Barella after being priced out of a move for Ajax midfielder Donny van de Beek - but there is still work to be done on the deal.

Inter's are prepared to offer €35 million (£31m) for Barella, but Cagliari are thought to be holding out for at least €45 million (£40m) for the 22-year-old, who has made five Italy appearances since his international debut last year.

Bayer rule out Havertz sale


Kai Havertz is one of Europe's most wanted talents, but he won't be leaving Bayer Leverkusen this summer.

After a stunning season in which he scored 17 Bundesliga goals in 34 appearances, Bayern Munich have predictably been linked with a huge move for the 19-year-old midfielder.

But a club source has ruled out any departure for the player, who is under contract until 2022.

Sevilla have announced the appointment of 52-year-old Julen Lopetegui as manager on a three-year contract.

Lopetegui will be hoping to put a nightmare 2018 behind him, having been sacked as manager of first Spain, then Real Madrid, within the space of five months.

City expect Silva to stay


Manchester City do not expect playmaker David Silva to leave the club this summer, according to the BBC.

With Kevin de Bruyne returning to full fitness and the rise of Bernardo Silva, there had been some speculation that the Spaniard, 33, could be on his way out of the Etihad.

But City are hopeful he will see out his contract, which expires in 2020. Pep Guardiola is also keen to keep hold of Ilkay Gundogan, Danilo, Fabian Delph and Leroy Sane, all of whom have been linked with moves away.

Britain's richest man looks to buy Nice


British billionaire Sir Jim Ratcliffe is interested in purchasing Ligue Un side Nice, according to Nice Matin.

Worth £21 billion, Ratcliffe is Britain's richest man - and he has also shown some interest in buying Chelsea.

Now, he is reported to have had a bid of £90 million (€101m) for Nice accepted by the club, who are managed by Arsenal legend Patrick Vieira.


Matheus Pereira 'available for €10 million'


Sporting Lisbon's Brazilian winger Matheus Pereira could be available for a fee of €10 million (£8.9m), according to O Jogo.

The 23-year-old spent last season on loan with FC Nurnberg, impressing with three goals in the Bundesliga.

Teams in Germany and England are reported to be interested in his services but with Nurnberg relegated, he is unlikely to be returning for a second stint at the club.

United must match €150 million Koulibaly release clause


Napoli will not accept a bid of anything below the release clause of €150 million (£133m) set for Manchester United target Kalidou Koulibaly, according to Corriere dello Sport.

United are thought to be ready to pay around €95 million (£85m) for the 27-year-old, with Real Madrid also thought to be interested in the player.

But chairman Aurelio De Laurentiis is unwilling to budge - any club that wants him will have to pay the full price.

Albiol wants Valencia return


Napoli defender Raul Albiol is keen on a return to Spain with Valencia interested in his services, according to Marca.

The 34-year-old, who began his career at Valencia before moving on to Real Madrid, has played in Serie A with Napoli since 2013 but is now a prime target for Valencia manager Marcelino.

Napoli are keen on Valencia striker Rodrigo Moreno, meanwhile, but any move for the forward would be a separate transfer rather than a swap deal.

Nine senior players leave Derby


Derby County have released their 2018/19 end-of-season retained list on their official website, and nine senior players are leaving.

Efe Ambrose, Alex Pearce, Ashley Cole, David Nugent, Marcus Olsson have not been offered new deals and will leave for free upon the expiry of their contracts, but talks are ongoing with midfielder Craig Bryson.

Meanwhile, Fikyao Tomori, Harry Wilson, Mason Mount and Andy King will all return to their parent clubs following the conclusion of their loan spells.

Porto interested in Pinamonti


Porto are one of a number of clubs after Inter prodigy Andrea Pinamonti, according to FCInter1908.

The striker, 20, spent the season on loan with Frosinoine and has caught the eye of Porto in particular, who would like a loan deal with an obligation to buy at €18m (£16m/$20m).

However, Inter will not even consider less than €20m (£18m/$22.5m) for a player who has courted interest from Ajax and multiple Italian outfits.

Leeds should consider cashing in on Jansson


Leeds United should consider selling star centre-back Pontus Jansson, according to former manager Simon Grayson.

The defender has been linked with a Premier League move, and Grayson believes the club should sell to pave way for the youngsters.

Ronaldo wants Rodriguez at Juve

Everton have identified Luis Boa Morte as their prime candidate to be Marco Silva's new assistant manager, according to the Liverpool Echo.

Silva's long-serving right-hand man Joao Pedro Sousa has departed Merseyside to take on the head coaching role at Portuguese side Famalicao.

Boa Morte has had spells coaching in Sporting's youth set-up and at Portuguese third-tier side Sintrense.

Salvio set to join Boca Juniors


Eduardo Salvio is set to leave Benfica and join Boca Juniors this summer, according to A Bola.

The 29-year-old winger wants to return to his homeland after featuring primarily as a substitute this season.

He still has three years left on his contract, however, but negotiations have commenced between the two clubs.

Cardiff reject Villa's £8m Etheridge bid


Cardiff City have rejected an £8m (€9m/$10m) bid for goalkeeper Neil Etheridge from Aston Villa, according to Wales Online.

Despite the Bluebirds' relegation, the club feel they can retain their star shot-stopper unless a far more substantial bid for his services is made.

The 29-year-old kept 10 clean sheets in a difficult Premier League season and was one of the Welsh side's star performers, but ultimately was unable to prevent their drop back to the Championship.

Juve want Pogba return


The Bianconeri want to bring the central midfielder back to Turin.

Juventus are interested in re-signing Paul Pogba from Manchester United, according to Sky Sports.

The Serie A side have approached the Frenchman's agent, Mino Raiola, and are preparing a bid for the midfielder.
