Robbie Keane has wished Barack Obama well as the politician prepares to step down as President of the United States.
Obama is making way for President-Elect Donald Trump, who will assume office on January 20, and he has already delivered his farewell speech reflecting on his two terms in the White House.
Posting on his Instagram page, Keane noted Obama's affinity with Ireland - he has roots in Moneygall, County Offaly - and looked back favourably at his meetings with the 55-year-old.
"Had the pleasure of meeting this great man on a few occasions and I know how fond he was of Ireland," Keane said.
"I'd like to wish him well in his next chapter. @barackobama"
The former Republic of Ireland international led the Galaxy on their visit to the White House in early 2015, where Obama acknowledged their 2014 MLS Cup success and received a jersey from the club.
