Kaizer Chiefs have promoted full-back Siphosakhe Ntiya-Ntiya to the first team ahead of their clash with SuperSport United on Saturday.

Amakhosi have been hard at work bolstering their squad ahead of the second half of the campaign already bringing in the likes of Leonardo Castro, Siphelele Ntshangase and Kabelo Mahlasela. But after the successful recent promotion of players such as Wiseman Meyiwa and Siyabonga Ngezana, the Soweto giants have opted yet again to promote one of their rising youngsters.

21-year-old Ntiya-Ntiya has been one of the club’s standout players in the club’s development ranks, and subsequently the Eastern Cape-born left-back will have the opportunity to challenge one of his heroes in Tsepo Masilela for a place in coach Steve Komphela’s starting line-up.

Nonetheless, Chiefs' team manager Bobby Motaung has praised the signing of Ntiya-Ntiya who has already travelled with the first team to Mpumalanga for their Premier Soccer League (PSL) clash against Matsatsantsa.

“We have been looking at his progress and we are satisfied with what we’ve seen. He trained with the senior team a few times in 2017 and we believe a player of his quality is ready for the big stage,” Motaung told the club’s website.

“While it’s important to reinforce the team with players from other teams, it’s important to recognise the wealth of young talent we have in our development structure,” Motaung added.

Meanwhile, Ntiya-Ntiya is eager to grab his new-found opportunity with open arms.

“I am grateful and excited for this opportunity and will grab it with both hands. I’ve been working hard and I am happy that my perseverance has paid off,” Ntiya-Ntiya concluded.
