Kaizer Chiefs part ways with technical advisor Rob Hutting

Kaizer Chiefs football manager Bobby Motaung has confirmed that they have decided against renewing Rob Hutting's contract. 

Hutting joined Amakhosi as a technical advisor on a six-month deal at the start of the year, and while the management spoke highly of him when he first arrived, he was never popular among the club supporters.

The 62-year-old came to South Africa as a relatively unknown having worked in Europe for the better part of his coaching career. 

With the Glamour Boys still on the lookout for a new coach, the club had to make a decision whether to renew Hutting's contract or let him go. 

"Hutting is no longer with the team. You will remember that he had signed a short-term contract - a six-month contract. The club decided against renewining his conract. He won't be part of the team next season," Motaung was quoted as saying by Isolezwe. 

Chiefs are believed to be working around the clock to secure the services of Stuart Baxter from Bafana Bafana, and whether or not the nature of negotiations forced them to release Hutting remains to be seen.

When Hutting was hired by Chiefs in January, many saw him as a potential replacement for Steve Komphela, but even then, the club insisted that the Dutch mentor was merely there on an advisory role to the technical team. 

Patrick Mabedi remains in charge of the team's pre-season training, and while Motaung admits that the Malawian mentor has done well, he doesn't think he's the right man to coach Chiefs on a permanent basis. 

However, he said the club will continue to support the former Cape Town All Stars coach. 

"Mabedi won't be the Kaizer Chiefs coach, but he's still in charge of the team. He's been there as an assistant and he's doing well, but being a head coach is different," added Motaung to the publication.
