Kaizer Chiefs and Sundowns avoid each other in Nedbank Cup quarterfinal draw

The draw for the remaining eight teams was conducted in Cape Town on Thursday night

Kaizer Chiefs and Mamelodi Sundowns were kept apart in the quarterfinals of the 2018 Nedbank Cup.

Amakhosi were pitted against Baroka, and have been handed a home draw against the side they have struggled to beat since 2011.

Steve Komphela's men only managed to register their first win over Baroka earlier this year, thanks to goals from Ryan Moon and Leonardo Castro.

Sundowns on the other hand, face a tricky test away to Cape Town City.

The Citizens booked their place in the Last 8 following their 1-0 win over Orlando Pirates in the previous round, while Sundowns were made to dig deep by ABC Motsepe League outfit EC Bees on Tuesday night.

This year's giant killers, Ubuntu Cape Town, will be at home to Free State Stars, who have been doing well under the tutelage of coach Luc Eymael.

However, the Bethlehem-based outfit will have to box smart against an Ubuntu side that beat Polokwane City and AmaZulu on their way to the quarterfinals.

The final fixture of the quarterfinals will see Maritzburg Untied host Bloemfontein Celtic

Fadlu Davids' men are one step closer to achieving their target of reaching the semi-finals of the Nedbank Cup.

Nonetheless, their game plan will have to be on point as Celtic players know what it takes to reach a cup final, having being there earlier this season.

Phunya Sele Sele lost to Bidvest Wits in the Telkom Knockout Cup final in December 2017.

The PSL announced that this year's final will be played at the Cape Town Stadium on the 19th of May 2018.
