The Europeans have taken commanding positions in the competition...

The 2019 edition of the JSSL Professional Academy 7s competition has commanding displays from Valencia and Arsenal in the boys tournament.

Valencia, who were ousted by 2018 champions Urawa Red Diamonds, have defeated the Japanese side 3-0 in a bid to complete their revenge while also getting the better of Johor DarulTakzim 1-0 in Day 1 at Our Tampines Hub in Singapore.

While the Spaniards lead Group B with six points, the Arsenal boys lead Group A with four points following a 2-0 win over JSSL FC and a goalless draw against Atletico Madrid.

In the girls tournament, Atletico Madrid lead the standings having gathered seven points from their three matches. Trailing by a point are Valencia and Liverpool, as Barcelona are currently fourth with five points.

Come Day Two, Valencia are set to lock horns with Fulham and Johor DarulTakzim are to face Indonesia’s Persib Bandung in Group B. In Group A, Australian side Perth Glory will be up against Arsenal. In the girls group, Liverpool’s young ladies will take on both Valencia and Barcelona.

Admission to the JSSL Professional Academy 7s at Our Tampines Hub is free.
