Jordan Ayew’s assists key to Swansea City survival

Jordan Ayew’s impact continues to be felt at Swansea City where he has gotten three assists in his last six matches.

The latest came from his cross into the box that was nodded in by Fernando Llorente on Saturday to give the Swans a 1-0 victory against Everton and move them out of relegation into 17th spot on 35 points, one above Hull City.

According to data from Opta, “Ayew has provided an assist in three of his last six Premier League games (3 assists), this after failing to assist in any of his first 36 in the competition.”

Even though he is still waiting for his first goal since signing for the Swans on transfer deadline day in January, the 25-year-old has proven useful by delivering when they really needed it to avoid the drop.

Two of his assists yielded six points and came in victories against Stoke City and Everton while the other one came in a 3-1 defeat at home to Tottenham Hotspur.

While Jordan has not seen the kind of success that his older brother, Andre, enjoyed during his spell at Swansea, he has shown promise that he would fight till the end to help them avoid the drop.

Perhaps next season would be better after he must have participated in pre-season training with his teammates.
