ISL 2018-19: Carles Cuadrat - Sometimes, 10-man teams find it easy to defend

Bengaluru head coach Carles Cuadrat felt that his team tried their best to notch three points against Mumbai City on Sunday at the Kanteerava Stadium.

Udanta Singh's opener was cancelled out by Modou Sougou and both goals were scored in the first half. Bengaluru remained unbeaten and at the top of the table after 10 matches.

"We tried our best. Sometimes it happens that the team with 10 players find it easy to defend. They have fast players and they decided to score through counter-attack exclusively. We tried to use some options through some of the substitutions. We're happy that we are still unbeaten and top of the table," Cuadrat said.

Mumbai City are also on an unbeaten run of seven matches and sit pretty just below Bengaluru in the second spot of the league table.

"Mumbai City were doing well and I think we need to congratulate them. It was an exciting game of football."

Rahul Bheke was fielded as a left-back and Chencho Gyeltshen was replaced at the break. The Spanish coach reasoned, "I think that Rahul Bheke, the fantastic form he is in, Arnold Issoko didn't have a lot of chances to participate in the game and that is because of the work of Rahul.

"I think Nishu is better in offence and had issues (containing), Rafael Bastos. So I had Khabra helping in defence and Nishu in midfield after half-time.

"We started very well again. When they scored, I felt we were losing the ball and they were dangerous on counter attacks. Chencho wasn't participating in the No.9 position which isn't his natural position," he concluded.
