FC Goa will look to continue their winning ways when they take on Kerala Blasters FC at Kochi in an Indian Super League (ISL) clash on Sunday.
Following their 1-4 defeat at the hands of Jamshedpur FC, the Guars bounced back with a thrilling 3-2 win over Delhi Dynamos on Thursday.
Ferran Corominas has once again been in excellent form this season for Goa with the Spaniard jointly leading the goal-scoring charts with six goals to his name. However, Goa coach Sergio Lobera believes his team are not solely relaint on the Spaniard.
“Coro is obviously a very important player for us. But I also think that we have shown us we are not entirely reliant on Coro. Within the list of top goal-scorers, it is not only Coro but others from the team also appear there,” Lobera said.
Lobera’s men have had only two days to prepare for the Kerala clash after the Delhi Dynamos victory but the Spanish head coach refused to take a swipe at the scheduling.
“The calendar is what it is. I don't think we can deliver excuses about what could have been. We just have to make every effort to get the players ready,” he explained.
Ahead of the clash, Kerala Blasters assistant coach Thangboi Singto had highlighted Goa’s tendency to concede goals at the back. Lobera though, is banking on his philosophy of outscoring the opponents.
“I respect the assistant coach of Kerala. Let's see who scores more goals tomorrow. Football is all about the balance between balance and attack. We play an attacking form of football which means we have to take more risks,” he commented.
On being asked about his expectations from the game, Lobera replied, “My team will come here knowing exactly what they need to be doing. I think it is a good game, I consider Kerala to be a direct rival for us.”
“If the assistant coach of Kerala said they can score goals against us, it is going to be a good game but if we can score one more, I will be going home happy.”
