With the fifth edition of the Indian Super League (ISL) fast approaching, the 10 teams have been busy finalising their rosters. With less than a month to go for the new season to kick-off, we take a look at how the teams have shaped up with respect to their overseas signings.

Here, we take a look at the seven foreigners who will turn out for the Pune-based side.

Marcelinho Leite Pereira

FC Pune City skipper and talisman Marcelinho will once again spearhead the club’s attack this season. This is the Brazilian's third season in the ISL and second with FC Pune City. He had scored eight goals and provided seven assists last season. The fans will hope that the attacker continues his fine form and deliver yet again this time around.

Emiliano Alfaro

The Uruguayan forward too will appear in his second season for The Stallions this year. Emiliano Alfaro was the club’s highest goal scorer last season with nine goals in 18 matches. He had also provided two assists. The combination of Marcelinho and Alfaro will ensure FC Pune City's attack has a lethal look this time around as well.

Diego Carlos

The Brazilian winger was an instant hit for Pune City last year. The 30-year-old attacker was pre-dominantly deployed on the flanks and was the key man under Ranko Popovic. Carlos has renewed his contract this year and will be an important member of The Stallions ’ squad.

Marko Stankovic

The 32-year-old Austrian midfielder is the fourth overseas player from last season who has been retained by FC Pune City. Marko Stankovic joined the club during the January transfer window last season. He appeared in 12 matches for the club and provided one assist.

Martin Diaz

The Uruguayan defender played for NorthEast United FC last season. Predominantly a left-back, Diaz was used in the defensive midfield role at The Highlanders. With Marcos Tebar leaving FC Pune City this season for Delhi Dynamos, the Stallions have roped in Diaz to fill in his position.

Matt Mills

FC Pune City signed 32-year-old former Southampton youth product Matt Mills this season. The English defender has played for several big English clubs like Reading, Bolton Wanderers and Leicester City. He will bring a bagful of experience to the Pune backline this year.

Jonathan Vila

The former Celta Vigo midfielder has joined FC Pune City this season. A graduate from the Celta youth system, the Spaniard had played for the club for eight years. At Celta, Vila has played under former FC Barcelona and current Spain national team coach Luis Enrique.

Iain Hume

This was possibly one of the most talked-about transfers in ISL this season. The Canadian international is the highest goal scorer in the history of the ISL. After spending two seasons each at Kerala Blasters and ATK, Hume has moved to Pune this year. Unfortunately, the Canadian striker is yet to recover from the injury which he sustained last season. Hume is Pune’s eighth foreigner and will not be registered by the club until he is fit to play.
