Indian Super League (ISL) side FC Pune City have officially confirmed the signing of Brazilian striker Diego Carlos for the upcoming season. The 29-year-old forward becomes the franchise's seventh foreign signing ahead of the fourth edition of the league.
Diego played his youth football with famous Brazilian side Flamengo. He made his senior debut with Brazilian side Duque de Caxias and later moved to Corinthians Alagoano. The striker has also plied his trade in the Russian Premier League with FC Volga Nizhny Novgorod where he scored 10 goals in 31 matches. A year later he moved to FC UFA and helped the side to gain promotion to the top division playing a vital role.
On signing the Brazilian, club CEO Gaurav Modwel said, “Diego's game has this rare quality of controlled aggression. His ability to seamlessly shift from being an attacking midfielder to a striker with exceptional ball control skills makes him a potent weapon for our team. Along with Marcelinho, (Jonatan) Lucca he will add the typical Brazilian flair to our team.”

Carlos also expressed his happiness in joining the ISL side. He said, “This is the beginning of a new chapter in my football career. I have heard great things about the league as well as FC Pune City. It will be good to play alongside my country-mates Jonatan and Marcelinho. Expect me to give my 100% for the club to ensure the fans have reasons to celebrate.”
FC Pune City's performances have not been up to the mark over the last three editions of ISL and are yet to land a top-four finish in the league. They have managed to add several quality names to their squad this summer, including ISL 2016 top scorer Marcelinho who has made the switch from Delhi Dynamos.
