The former Manchester City goalkeeper is keen to win three points against an attacking FC Goa side…

Kerala Blasters will look to avenge their 5-2 hammering in Goa when they take on FC Goa on Sunday evening. Since then Rene Meulensteen has been sacked with David James taking charge.

The former Liverpool FC custodian has seen his team pick six points from a possible nine in their last three outings. He mentioned that although the game against FC Goa will be tough, his side will definitely look to win on their home soil.

“We might have the same players but we are now a different team to when we last met. We had a very good trip around India. I was delighted with what I saw, even in defeat. There were a lot of positives.

“The first thing in football is to understand the result and know why you lost or won. I wasn’t there at that time (at Goa game) but the players understand what they are doing now. My focus is to get the players ready. This is yet another tough match for us but we have to go for three points,” said James.

“The club is about trying the best, trying the hardest. We can’t guarantee results but we can't think about last game (against Jamshedpur FC). It is history,” he added.

Kerala have another seven matches to go and they need to pick more wins if they are to make it into the play-offs this season.

"Yes, (this is the toughest phase for Kerala), we have got something to prove. The games are coming thick and fast. We finished the fitter side strangely in the last match (against Jamshedpur FC) even though we lost and it was our third game on the road.

“There are a few knocks, I need to speak to the doctor and see what the situation. It is part of football. We have got a game to focus on. Kizito (Keziron) looked to be in a bit of pain but he is a tough lad. He will come back strongly,” he said.

James also praised Dheeraj Moirangthem, who has been training with the Kerala Blasters squad.

“Dheeraj is not part of the squad. He is a nice player, a young lad and very talented. But my focus has been on the players who I can select.”
