Inter Milan coach Luciano Spalletti has heaped praise on his players including Ghana midfielder Kwadwo Asamoah after their first away victory in the Uefa Champions League in over five years.

They defeated Dutch side PSV Eindhoven 2-1 on Wednesday thanks to goals from Radja Nainggolan and Mauro Icardi, to make it six points and now joint leaders in Group B with Barcelona.

Asamoah lasted the entire duration but picked up a yellow card by the 85th minute.

“De Vrij and Skriniar were perfect just like Asamoah and D’Ambrosio. Although, they had some danger initially, but in one against one situation they held up until the end,” Spalletti told Inter TV.

“We cannot give up because the group is very difficult and there are still four games to play. Difficulty is just around the corner for us in the Champions League. We have shown good character and we must not give an inch to opposition because we have to be on our toes, ready to react to any mistakes they make.

“We had started very well and there was nothing to suggest that we would go behind. The team continued with the same attitude of conviction and was rewarded for this.

"When they press you hard you allow them to make dangerous counter attacks. We suffered with their balls behind our defensive line, they launched the ball systematically in a very fast way. A couple of times we had to escape a little bit sooner than expected.”

Spalletti's side will now switch attention to the Serie A as they travel to Stadio Paolo Mazza to face SPAL on Sunday.
