Ifeanyi Matthew found the back of the net as Lillestroem succumbed 3-2 to Ranheim in Sunday’s Norwegian Eliteserien.
The 21-year-old who was making his 27th league appearance scored his third goal of the season but it proved little to help his side return to winning ways after two consecutive draws with Brann and Rosenborg.
The Canaries started the game on the front foot with Simen Rafn giving them the lead in the 12th minute.
However, Svein Maalen’s men fought from behind to stun their visitors with Erik Toenne igniting the comeback with his leveller in the 25th minute.
Three minutes later, Kristoffer Loekberg got the home team in front for the first time in the game and Aslak Fonn Witry added the third in the 58th minute.
In an attempt to avoid defeat, Jorgen Lennartsson introduced Mats Haakenstad, Erling Knudtzon and Gary Martin in the 65th minute but the former Kano Pillars man was on hand to reduce the deficit with seven minutes left to play.
The defeat has condemned Lillestroem to bottom three after gathering 27 points from 27 outings.
They will be hoping to return to winning ways when they make a trip to Marienlyst Stadion to tackle Strømsgodset on Wednesday.
