Niger Tornadoes defender Reuben Ogbonnaya insists he did not deserve been sent off in his side's Wednesday 1-0 defeat against Katsina United.
The former Kano Pillars man got a straight red card in the 81st minute following a poor challenge in defeat against the Chanji Boys and he has apologised over the incident.
"Honestly, the defeat hurt me, especially the red card against Katsina United," Ogbonnaya told Goal.
"For me, I did not deserve to be sent off for what I did. The referee was supposed to give me a yellow because I have not done anything wrong before that moment.
"I only expected at worst a yellow. I'm not happy about the red card and the loss of three points. Though, I don't really think it affected my team then but possibly we could have equalised.
"So, I want to say deeply sorry for the red card to my teammates and coaching crew. I hope to do my best to do better than that next time."
