The Ghana international believes it is too early to think about next season as the current campaign is still in full gear

Aston Villa winger Albert Adomah says the club must fully focus on the remaining three games of the season, as thinking about next season is premature.

The Championship side have seen their hopes of making an immediate return to the English Premier League end in flames as they currently sit 15 points below the promotional playoff position with three matches to go.

By that, their topflight ambitions have apparently shifted to next season, but Adomah does not want the Claret and Blue Army to get ahead of themselves.

“I know that fans are already asking questions like ‘Can next season be a special season? Can Villa achieve promotion next season?’," Adomah told his club's official website.

“I’m not thinking about that right now. We’ve still got three games to go and as a professional footballer, it’s up to me and my team-mates to show total focus on the remaining games.

“We want to finish this season strongly. We won’t take our foot off the gas.

“We have three games to go – an important derby match against Birmingham City, which I’m looking forward to and I’m sure the fans are looking forward to also.

“Then it’s Blackburn away and we finish with a home match against the potential champions Brighton.

“These games are what we need to concentrate on now. Then we can look to the summer and after that the challenges of next season when pre-season arrives.”

Adomah joined Villa on a four-year deal from Middlesbrough in August last year.

The 29-year-old has made 35 leagues appearances involving 28 starts for the Villans, scoring thrice.

The Black Star has also created 42 chances and assisted 10 goals.
