Hector Cuper beats Gernot Rohr to Coach of the Year award for Egypt success

Egypt boss Hector Cuper has been named the Coach of the Year at Caf Awards.

Cuper beat out Nigeria manager Gernot Rohr and Wydad Athletic Club's L'Hussein Amoutta to claim the prize for the first time thanks to his exploits in 2017.

Emmanuel Amuneke i was at the ceremony in Accra to present this year's award to the 62-year-old.

The Argentine led Egypt to the final of the Africa Cup of Nations before bowing to eventual champions, Cameroon in a thrilling encounter. His biggest achievement of the year under review was leading the Pharaohs to the Fifa World Cup for the first time since 1990.

Cuper replaced Bob Bradley in 2015 and immediately led the country to the African Cup of Nations.
