Gor Mahia head coach Dylan Kerr: Why my players and I hate Thika Stadium

A bitter Dylan Kerr now suggests that Thika Sub County stadium should be closed from action after the relegation of Thika United

Gor Mahia head coach Dylan Kerr hopes his team will ‘never play’ at the Thika Stadium again.

The stadium has not been up to the required standards and most teams have not enjoyed playing football at the surface. Last season, K’Ogalo defender Karim Nizigiyimana hurt his leg while playing at the same venue, an injury that put him out for almost a year.

Coach Kerr has been vocal about the condition of the pitch, and has once again raised his eyebrows ahead of Sunday's game against Tusker at the same venue.

“Thika is not a good stadium for football, I hate it! Unfortunately, we will have to play there against Tusker on Sunday. It is my hope that after the relegation of Thika United, teams will never be allowed to play there again.

“The win against Zoo Kericho is a motivation for us ahead of the Tusker tie. We just want to win the game and finish the season on a high note,” Kerr told Goal in an interview.

K’Ogalo was exceptional this season, something that enabled them to win their seventeenth league crown.
