Ghana U17 coach Zito optimistic of qualification to 2019 Afcon

Ghana U-17 coach Karim Zito says his team is battle ready for the 2019 Africa U17 Cup of Nations holding in Tanzania.

The Black Starlets, who finished runners-up at the previous competition in Gabon and subsequently reached the quarterfinals of the U-17 World Cup, have been camping at Ghanaman Soccer Centre of Excellence in Accra.

They will face Nigeria, Cote d’Ivoire, Benin, Niger, Burkina Faso and Togo in West Zone B group, with the winner automatically qualifying to the competition.

“I wouldn’t say all is well but I can tell you my team is ready. I have different sets of players to match any situation and game now,” Zito told UTV.

“In all, it is the results that matters. As you can see, the qualification process has changed and has moved to all West African countries affairs since we are going to be put into two groups and the winners will be picked. It is not an easy task.

“As a coach, you have to be aware of the situation you are in so that you can understand and make a decision on the type of move you need to take. We’ve considered all these and are moving gradually and will pick qualification," he added.

Goal understands that the number of players in camp will be reduced in the coming days.
