Ghana U17 4-0 UAE U17: Starlets hammer Young Whites in friendly

Ghana U17 defeated their United Arab Emirates counterparts 4-0 in an international friendly at the Theyab Awana Stadium in Dubai on Saturday ahead of the U17 Fifa World Cup holding in India next month.

The Black Starlets were beaten 2-0 by African champions Mali in their first friendly on Wednesday but redeemed themselves this time around thanks to an early goal from Gideon Mensah of Right to Dream's fame.

The youngster connected a pass from his teammate and kept his cool before sending his effort past UAE goalkeeper.

Wafa's wonderkid Aminu Mohammed, who is rumored to be monitored by Premier League giants Manchester City, doubled the lead ten minutes after the break.

Sadiq Ibrahim added another goal on 67th minute and Iddris Mohammed wrapped it off with a fine finish late in the game to bring joy to Paa Kwesi Fabin's side.

However, according to management committee chairman Kweku Eyiah, Ghana were wasteful upfront and could have scored up to 10 goals.

"We were very wasteful in front of goal. We need to sharpen our goal scoring prowess," Eyiah told the media after the game.

"Mohammed Aminu and Eric Ayiah were the worst culprit but watch out for the new kid on our block. He's sensational," he added.

Ghana have been paired with hosts India, Columbia and United States in Group A. They are expected to leave Abu Dhabi for India on October 2.
