Hapoel Be’er Sheva’s John Ogu  might have been forgiven for thinking he would never score again.

The 29-year-old had not netted since July 12, 2016 going into the Camel’s crucial league encounter against Maccaabi Tel Aviv on Saturday evening, and was probably not the man Barak Bakhar was expecting to make the difference in a tricky away tie.

But Ogu finally ended that remarkable drought by deciding the outcome of the encounter with his 89th minute strike after teammate, Maor Melikson had cancelled out Vidar Kjartansson’s opener.

The victory helped Hapoel Be’er Sheva successfully defend their title at the expense of closest challenger Maccabi Tel Aviv – which put them in next season’s Champions League qualification.

''I give you all the praise God. Thank you for everything. Back to back champion,'' an excited Ogu wrote on Twitter.
