A brilliant Bruno Fornaroli strike has seen Melbourne City sneak past Newcastle Jets in the FFA Cup Round of 16.
After a dominant first 45 minutes which saw City create a number of chances but fail to finish, they finally found the back of the net just after the break.

That effort would prove decisive with the Jets unable to respond and City getting some revenge for their A-League semi-final exit at the hands of Newcastle in May.
Elsewhere, Western Sydney Wanderers survived a scare to pull past Bonnyrigg White Eagles 2-1.
German debutant Alexander Baumjohann got the Wanderers off to the perfect start, starting and finishing a play in the 12th minute to hand his new side the lead.

Unable to extend their advantage however, the red and black found themselves level after a Tynan Diaz free-kick gave the underdogs a surprise equaliser in the 65th minute.
Determined to avoid an upset, Western Sydney would reclaim the lead just nine minutes later with Brendan Hamill heading home after some good work from Patrick Ziegler.
Bonnyrigg continued to push for another equaliser but couldn't find a breakthrough as their cup run came to an end.
In Brisbane, Adelaide United similarly took care of their non-league opponent in a far from comfortable 1-0 victory over Lions FC.
Despite the Lions starting with real intensity, Adelaide would open the scoring in fortunate circumstances through Craig Goodwin.

The Lions continued to play positively in the second 45 and even hit the post from a corner, but Adelaide held firm to progress in their quest for a second FFA Cup crown.
In the fourth and final game of the night, Heidelberg United proved far too strong for Adelaide Comets in a 4-0 win as they secured a third quarter-final appearance.
