Feutmba: Kekana won't leave Sundowns like previous captains Schut and Mphahlele

Former Mamelodi Sundowns midfielder Roger Feutmba believes that the club will ensure that they do not lose their captain Hlompho Kekana at the end of the current season.

“I think they will keep him. Sundowns always makes sure that they keep their best players. You won’t see them losing all their best players,” Feutmba told Goal.

The Brazilians are about to lose one of their star players, Keagan Dolly, to French Ligue 1 side Montpellier during the current January Transfer Window.

Sundowns could also lose Liberian Anthony Laffor as his contract runs out the end of the season and he has been heavily linked with a move to Kaizer Chiefs.

Over the last two seasons, the Brazilians have lost their influential captains in Alje Schut and Ramahlwe Mphahlele as free agents, and they could now lose Kekana.

“Sundowns always keep their best players I am sure of that. They will find a way to renew his contract. He is the current captain of the team. So there’s no need for him to go,” Feutmba added.

“So for the purpose of the club, I believe that they will sit down with him and renew his contract,” Feutmba concluded.

The Brazilians, who are the defending league champions, will visit Bloemfontein Celtic on February 8.
