Mohamed Elneny has returned to training ahead of Egypt's friendly encounter with Colombia on Friday evening at Stadio Atleti Azzurri d'Italia.

The midfielder was stretchered off in Arsenal’s clash with West Ham United during a Premier League game on April 22 and was later diagnosed to have suffered an ankle ligament which ruled him out for the remainder of 2017-18 season.

Despite the setback, the former Basel player was included in ‎Hector Cuper’s 29-man preliminary squad for the World Cup with hope that he would be fit ahead of the global tournament.

And on Thursday evening, the player was part of the squad that trained ahead of their tune-up game with Jose Pekerman’s side as part of their final preparation for the big summer.

“With the participation Elneny in the group training of the Egyptian team evening training in preparation for Colombia friendly match,” read a tweet from the Egypt national team handle.

It is yet unclear if he will be fully fit to take on Colombia in Italy but is expected to be back fully when the Pharaohs lock horns with Belgium on June 6 in their last tune-up game.

Egypt will be hoping to navigate their ways past host Russia, Saudi Arabia and Uruguay in Group A.
