Ghana striker Raphael Dwamena spared FC Zurich’s blushes on Sunday as his strike salvaged a point for The City Club in the Swiss topflight.
The 22-year-old’s second half strike was enough to force a 1-1 home draw against Luzern at Stadion Letzigrund.
Uli Forte’s charges, by the result, sit third on the log, four places above their matchday opponents.
Christian Schneuwly put the visitors in the lead in the 28th minute, before Antonio Marchesano set up Dwamena for the equalizer on the hour mark.
Replaced by Stephen Odey five minutes to full-time, the Black Star took his season tally to six goals in 20 topflight games – involving 17 starts.
The centre-forward, who joined The City Club from Austria Lustenaulast January, scored a combined 30 goals over the course of last season.
He was once on the books of Austrian giants Red Bull Salzburg, featuring for feeder side Liefering.
Last summer, he came close to sealing a move to English Premier League new entrants Brighton and Hove Albion.
However, after Zurich and Brighton announced reaching agreement for the transfer of the target man, subject to passing a medical, the move fell through at the eleventh hour as the English outfit pulled out of the deal over the striker’s failed medical due to a heart condition.
