Tunisian giants Club Africain have terminated the contract of Ghanaian defender Lawrence Lartey three weeks after arriving from South African club Ajax Cape Town, Goal understands.
The 24-year-old signed a three-year deal but surprisingly departed his apartment with his counsel on Wednesday following a lengthy debate with the club's top hierarchy, after his signing on fees failed to hit his bank account.
According to reports, Club Africain head coach Chiheb Ellili was not impressed with the centre-back's performance during the club's pre-season, suspecting a hidden knee injury and gave the green light to allow Lartey to leave.
Ellili has options following the return of defenders Ibrahim Chenihi and I. Barnes from their injury layoffs.
Goal understands that Lartey will rejoin Ajax next week and may play in the Gulf region next season after attracting several offers from clubs in the Arabian Gulf League.
Lartey was the captain of Ashanti Gold when they won the Ghana Premier League title in 2015 and was part of the Black Satellite squad that participated in the 2013 Fifa U20 World Cup.
