Chelsea on worst defensive run for six years

Chelsea may be waltzing to the Premier League title, but their defensive record is something Antonio Conte will be keen to look at once the dust has settled on his first season at Stamford Bridge.

The Blues have long been famed for their prowess at the back, while Conte's Juventus backline was similarly notorious for grinding out clean sheets.

Since moving to the Bridge, however, the Italian has struggled to strike the balance between attack and defence.

Josh King's goal for Bournemouth on Saturday marked the ninth straight Premier League game in which Chelsea had conceded.

And while Chelsea nevertheless ran out 3-1 winners, you have to look all the way back to Andre Villas-Boas' tenure in 2011-12 to find the last time their net was breached on such a regular basis.

Still, that somewhat leaky defence has hardly held the Blues back.

Of those nine games, six ended in victory for Conte's men while two finished tied.

Only Crystal Palace managed to topple the leaders with a 2-1 win on April 1.
