Orlando Pirates have announced their new signings ahead of the 2018/19 Premier Soccer League season

Following speculation regarding the club’s interest in a number of players, Orlando Pirates have announced nine new signings.

As they prepare for the 2018/19 Premier Soccer League (PSL) season, the Buccaneers have signed ex-Kaizer Chiefs goalkeeper in Brilliant Khuzwayo among several others.

Khuzwayo’s future has been a subject of much speculation in recent months following the keeper's decision not to renew his contract with the Naturena-based side.

Apart from the Durban-born keeper, the Soweto giants have also announced the likes of Vincent Pule, Ben Motshwari, Meshack Maphangule, Asavela Mbekile, Linda Mntambo, Abel Mabaso, Paseka Mako and Kudakwashe Mahachi.

Pule joins Pirates from Bidvest Wits, Maphangule from Black Leopards,  Mbekile from Mamelodi Sundowns whilst Mntambo completes his switch from Chippa United.

Mntambo will be joined by Mabaso and Mako who also join from the Chilli Boys, while Zimbabwe’s Mahachi make his highly anticipated move from Golden Arrows.

The club announced the new arrivals on their official website on Monday, ending months of speculation.

"Orlando Pirates Football Club is delighted to announce the signings of Brilliant Khuzwayo, Vincent Pule, Ben Motshwari, Meshack Maphangule, Asavela Mbekile, Linda Mntambo, Abel Mabaso, Paseka Mako and Kudakwashe Mahachi,” a statement on the club's website read.

"More details on the signings will be made available closer to the start of pre-season. The nine players will join the rest of the squad when the team returns for pre-season training on June 18," the statement added.

"Strengthening of the squad has been the number one priority for the administrative office in anticipation of a gruelling season which will see the Club competing in five competitions, including the CAF Champions League, which starts in November," the statement continued.

"The Absa Premiership is expected to start on the weekend of the 3-5th August 2018," concluded the statement.
