Bournemouth's equaliser pushed Arsenal to do better, says match-winner Aubameyang

After suffering a setback just before the interval, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang stated that Arsenal came out determined to grab maximum points off Bournemouth in Sunday's Premier League fixture.

Jefferson Lerma's own goal and Aubameyang's 67th-minute effort helped the Gunners defeat their hosts 2-1 in a keenly contested tie.

Joshua King's equaliser in the closing stages of the first-half gave Eddie Howe's men hopes of grabbing a point against the north London outfit who had drawn their last three matches.

But Aubameyang, the joint top scorer in the English top-flight with eight goals, disclosed that the leveller inspired the Gunners 'to come with a better intensity' and 'some aggression' in the second half.

"I think the goal before half-time was bad for us because at half-time we spoke and we knew that in the second half we had to come back out with a better intensity," Aubameyang told club website .

"We knew that we had to put some aggression into the game and do better than we did in the first half."

Prior to Sunday’s outing, Arsenal's last three games across all competitions have ended in draws [vs. Liverpool, Sporting Lisbon and Wolverhampton Wanderers].

"I think we knew that it would be a tough game and it was really tough, but it’s good to be back with a win," he added.

Unai Emery's men are yet to lose a game since their back-to-back losses against Manchester City and Chelsea in August.

And Aubameyang believes the Gunners are on a mission this season as they aim to stretch their 17-game unbeaten streak.

"Yeah, I think so," the ex-Borussia Dortmund talisman said when asked whether the team is building something.

"We are following the process and we will continue in this way. The group are living well so we will try to continue in this way."

The Gabon international who arrived at the Emirates Stadium in January has now scored 20 goals in 31 matches across all competitions and will hope to increase the tally when Arsenal visit Ukrainian Premier League side Vorskla for Thursday's Uefa Europa League encounter.
