The Chinese Super League tipped to be the best destination for the Manchester City striker by respondents of a Goal poll

The Chinese Super League would be the best destination for Manchester City striker Wilfried Bony, according to Goal readers, as the Ivorian faces an uncertain future.

The 28-year-old was once Africa’s most expensive player, but after being deemed surplus to requirements by Pep Guardiola, he was loaned out to Stoke City last season.

The move didn’t go to plan, as Bony managed just 10 appearances last term, scoring twice, and was part of the Cote d’Ivoire side that crashed out in the first round of the Africa Cup of Nations.

This summer, the forward finds himself at a career crossroads.

Bony himself has outlined a desire to win City fans over and reaffirm his qualities at the Etihad Stadium, but one suspects that Pep Guardiola has already decided to close that particular door.

Despite his toil last term, he has no shortage of potential suitors, with clubs in Ligue 1, the Premier League and the Chinese Super League all reportedly keen on his services.

According to Goal readers—when asked in a poll—China would be the best destination for the forward, with 29 percent of respondents recommending the Ivorian move to the CSL.

Tied in second place, Everton and Olympique de Marseille both received 19 percent of the votes. The former are in particular need of a new forward following the departure of Romelu Lukaku to Manchester United.

Elsewhere, West Bromwich Albion have also been tipped with a move for Bony, but they received only five percent of the votes—the joint lowest along with LOSC Lille.

Intriguingly, seven percent of those who responded to the poll believe that the Etihad Stadium—and a stay at Manchester City—would be the best destination for Bony. At this stage, a return to Guardiola’s plans appears unlikely, although it would constitute one of African football’s greatest turnarounds!
