The Clever Boy suffered a 1-0 loss in the TKO semi-final as they hoped to reach the finals stage of the competition and defend their crown.
“No I thought we had the best four chances of the game. I mean we had great free headers inside the six yard. Gift (Motupa), (Lehlohonolo) Nonyane, but forget about the chances in the end and give them credit,” Hunt said to SuperSport TV.
“They stuck at it and once they got the goal they never came out and we had to break them down. We were not good enough in the last third,” he added.
Speaking about the early goal his men conceded, the coach lamented the recent Fifa international break as he felt that it disturbed their flow.
“But it's what happens after the Fifa break you know. I don't want to single out, but you see what happens after the Fifa break, people were off the mark and that happens all the time. So, I knew we went for trouble today coming here,” he responded.
On the other hand, the former SuperSport United coach expressed that Bakgaga Ba Mphahlele sat back in their box and made it difficult for his men to break them down.
An error by defender Buhle Mkhwanazi on the edge of the area led the hosts to score their only goal of the match through Matome Mabeba's well struck set piece in the opening half.
“I didn't expect a mistake to be made like that and it's part and parcel of the game. You can make changes, the shape of the team, you press them and you know we tried to really force until the end and you gotta have a better ball, better delivery in the area,” he continued.
“You're not going to get through them because they are sitting there in the box. So, you got to be better, expect better from international players in certain areas and it just wasn't to be and it's been like that for maybe one or two games now,” rued the coach.
“So it's always those things between games. As I said the Fifa break doesn't help us. All credit to Wedson (Nyirenda) and his team, good luck,” concluded Hunt.
Resulting from this victory, the Ga Mphahlele-based side will now meet Orlando Pirates in their first ever Cup final in the top flight at the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium on Decmber 08.
