Bethel Orji charges Abia Comets to learn from Enugu Rangers loss

Abia Comets coach, Bethel Orji has stated that his players will learn from their defeat to Enugu Rangers after they were dazed 2-0 in a friendly tie played at the Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium on Saturday evening.

Two first-half goals from Ugonna Anyora and Godwin Aguda in the 10th and 32nd minutes respectively of the highly charged fixture helped the Flying Antelopes to their latest win.

Speaking shortly after the game, Orji disclosed that they have learnt from their mistakes and are heading back home to make necessary corrections before their Nigeria National League resumption next month.

He called it a privilege for his young players to have the chance of playing against a top side as Rangers and that the experience they garnered during the game will help them in their subsequent test games before their September 12 NNL restart.

“It was a good game and we have learnt some lessons,” Orji told the media.

“It was a great privilege for some of my players to try out their skills against a top side like Rangers. We gave a good account of ourselves but conceded two cheap goals.

“We are going back with the positives as we used the game to find out how good the players have learnt what we have been telling them.”

Abia Comets are eighth in the NNL Group BI with five points from six matches in a table comprising only nine teams and they will need a serious turnaround in their remaining fixtures in the second round to steer clear of relegation at the end of the season.

They have made massive changes to the team including the technical department all in a bid to ensure that they kick-start their season as from next month.
