A first card for standing too close to a free-kick after being warned, was followed by another for his scond after a foul. However, he made things worse when he sarcastically applauded the referee, prompting a longer ban.

After the Appeals Committee knocked back their initial attempt to have the attacker back in selection for Sunday's game against Real Madrid, the Catalan side are not giving up.

With nine goals and 10 assists in 26 league appearances this term, the 25-year-old has been a pivotal player for Luis Enrique.

Barca will take their case higher to the TAD just two days before they take on Zinedine Zidane's side, who sit three points clear of them with a game in hand before the clash at the Santiago Bernabeu.
