Ampomah reveals why he couldn't join Fortuna Dusseldorf

The Ghanaian claims the Flingeraner were interested in his services but the deal fell through in the eleventh hour

Ghana midfielder Nana Opoku Ampomah has revealed that there was an interest for him from Bundesliga side Fortuna Dusseldorf during the summer transfer window.

The 22-year-old has been in a fine form for Beljian Jupiler League side Waasland-Beveren since 2017 and appeared all set to move to Esprit Arena, only for the German side to pull the plug on the deal at the eleventh hour.

“It is true that there was a contact by Fortuna Dusseldorf, but in the end, nothing really came out of that,” Ampomah told Het Laatste Nieuws.

“Despite the inability to move, I feel good at Waasland-Beveren. This season, our start may not have been great but this is a young team that grows every day.

“I’m sure that things will improve and if there is any offer in the future too, we will let you know,” he added.
