The Promise Keepers’ forward said his side could have won the tie against the Pride of Rivers

Akwa United’s striker Christian Pyagbara says Rivers United were fortunate to get a draw in Port Harcourt.

The Promise Keepers got the opener through Musa Newman in the 11th minutes but Emeka Ogbugh levelled the tie for the Pride of Rivers three minutes later.

The visitors were denied a chance to claim victory when Ibrahim Alhassan saw his penalty saved.

“It was a match we had in the bag and could have won with more effort on our side. We played very well especially in the first half when we started at a fast pace. They could not cope with it and we were almost two goals up,” Pyagbara told Goal.

“It was a vintage performance from us but the three points would have helped us in our attempt to win the league title. We should be satisfied with the fact that we played very well and could have sealed the entire points.

“This result has cemented our third position on the league table before the next round of matches and we shall go to the next game against El Kanemi Warriors confident of our ability that we can also secure a better result in Maiduguri at the weekend.”
