Due to a hamstring injury, Malaysia forward Mohamadou Sumareh was forced to miss their 3-1 2018 AFF Championship Group A win over Laos last Monday.

And he has been a doubt for their Thursday away clash to Vietnam, with head coach Tan Cheng Hoe speaking in the pre-match press conference that he will continue observing the Pahang player's condition in the 24 hours leading up to the encounter.

After the final training session on Wednesday, at the My Dinh National Stadium, Goal asked the man himself on his condition, and his answer should make the Harimau Malaya fans more optimistic of their team's chances.

"I was rested against Laos before undergoing treatment, and I think now I feel well enough, okay, having rested for a few days.

"I'm okay to come back (play) tomorrow (Thursday)," said the Gambian-born player.

When asked on his emotions playing in his first competition for his adopted country, this is his response:

"It's a good feeling; every player dreams of playing for their national team. There are millions of guys out there, and not all of them will get the chance to play for the country.

"I'm one of the lucky ones, it's such an amazing feeling."

But he cautioned against showing too much deference to the Golden Dragons, who are one of the tournament favourites.

"Even if they are the favourites, in football we can't be totally sure what will happen. So we're going to go out there and give our everything.

"Both sides have studied each other's game, but it's all decided on the pitch tomorrow," said the 24-year old player.

Malaysia's match against Vietnam will be on November 16, Friday, at 7.30 pm Malaysian time.
