Late last month, Burundian Alexis Kitenge signed a two year contract with AFC Leopards from Athletico Olympic.

The 22 year-old striker was set to join the former Kenyan champions on first of June subject to acquisition of International Transfer Certificate (ITC), but up to date, the striker has not reported to The Den. Ingwe Organizing Secretary Timothy Lilumbi has revealed why the player has not joined the team.

"Kitenge is supposed to be with us as we speak, but his club had requested we allow him help the team in the local competition before joining us. But he has overstayed and that is a concern to us, he should be linking up with the team but I think Athletico wants him to play the final before they release him," Lilumbi told Goal.

Kitenge will have to compete with the likes of Vincent Oburu and Gilbert Fiamenyo for a starting berth. Ingwe is currently placed in the 12th position with sixteen points.
