The Ghana international says rumours about an almost done deal to the Magpies are untrue

Ghana midfielder Afriyie Acquah has denied reports about an imminent transfer to newly-promoted English Premier League side Newcastle United.

On Monday, the Torino man was quoted to have said that a move to the Toon Army was "90 per cent complete".

However, the Ghanaian has taken to social media to reject the reports, rather reiterating his loyalty to his current outfit.

 - the Black Star wrote on Twitter on Tuesday morning.

Embedded in the tweet is a video of the interview in which he reportedly made the Newcastle transfer claims.

Goal scrutiny of the footage reveals the 25-year-old, in fact, did not make the statement in relation to the Magpies, but only mentioned "90 per cent" as the possibility of him moving to England.

Acquah joined Torino from Bundesliga side TSG Hoffenheim on a four-year deal in the summer of 2015, having earlier spent loan stints with Parma and Sampdoria after struggling for first team action in Germany.

He made 31 league appearances for Palermo in seasons 2011-12 and 2012-13 combined.

Last campaign, he made 20 Serie A appearances for Torino, involving 13 starts and two goals.
