Accam reveals desire to play for boyhood club Hearts of Oak

Chicago Fire forward David Accam has revealed that he wants to play for boyhood club Hearts of Oak before the end of his career. 

The 27-year-old left Ghana at the age of 17 to join Ledbury Town in England before moving to Sweden and later the United States. He insists he wants to have a feel of the local top-flight with the Phobians before he calls it a quit.

"I'm a very strong Hearts of Oak fan. It's the club I have supported since childhood," Accam said, as quoted by Sports Obama.

"Hearts is a great club with lots of history and sure I would love to be part of that history one day. I would not hesitate to play for the club and help write more history with them. I would love an opportunity to play for the club [before I retire from football]," he added.

Accam was named Fire's best player of the year in 2015 and in 2016 but missed out of the award last year despite scoring 14 goals and raking five assists. He has been linked with a move to the Premier League in the January transfer window, with Stoke City and Bournemouth reported to be interested in his services.

He has also become the second Ghana International aside Asamoah Gyan to reveal plans to play in the Ghana Premier League. The Ghana captain, unlike Accam, wants to play for Hearts' biggest rival Asante Kotoko.
