AFC Leopards defender, Salim 'Shitu' Abdallah says that Ingwe will snatch the Kenyan Premier League title from Gor Mahia this season.
Abdallah guided Ingwe to a fifth place on the log last weekend following a 4-3 victory over Mathare United and the former Posta Rangers defender believes that the current squad have enough firepower to end AFC Leopards’19 year trophy drought.
“The morale is high in the squad and we want to carry on from where we left when we play Wazito (Wednesday). I’m expecting nothing but a win against Wazito.
“The game against Mathare was one of my best so far. I believe we have the quality to win the title this season,” Abdallah told Goal.
A win for AFC Leopards against Wazito will push them to second, just three points behind leaders Gor Mahia who will be out of action this weekend.
AFC Leopards defence have conceded five goals in the last three games, but Abdallah is upbeat that the team will tighten the loose ends if they stick to the current style being introduced by caretaker coach Dennis Kitambi.
Kitambi has been in charge of the team in the last two games; a 2-0 win over Sony Sugar and the latest success against Mathare and the Tanzanian, who prefers to build the game from behind, is expected to be on the bench against Wazito as he searches for his third straight win.
Head Coach Robert Matano is serving a suspension and the club is yet to come up with a final decision on his future.
