That's all from us today folks, we hope you enjoyed the game!
Southampton pick up their first point of the season and will look to secure their first win next weekend when they travel to Newcastle United. Meanwhile United now have four points and they face Wolves next time out.
The points are shared between Southampton and Manchester United, after it finishes 1-1 at St Mary’s. The hosts took the lead in the first half, after Adams saw his strike deflected off Fred and it went down as an own goal for the United man. However, the visitors rallied in the second period and Greenwood equalised on 55 minutes and it looked like United would then go on and win the game, with chances falling to Pogba and Greenwood, but they couldn’t convert. Meanwhile at the other end, De Gea was called into action to deny Armstrong, who should have done better after only having the keeper to beat.
90' + 4' There is still time for a very late winner, but it doesn't look likely and it looks like the points will be shared between the two sides.
J. Stephens
Yellow Card
90' + 2' Stephens has also been booked for something he has said to the referee.
P. Pogba
Yellow Card
90' + 1' Pogba is booked late on for a sliding challenge on Adams, getting nowhere near the ball.
90' There will be a minimum of five minutes added time played at the end of the second half.
88' This will be a terrific point for Southampton if this is how it finishes, they looked out of it at one point as United seemed keen to push on and win the game. However, they have rallied and it now looks like they'll be able to see the match out.
J. Lingard
N. Matić
86' Final United change now, with Matic heading off the pitch and he has been replaced by Lingard.
85' Can either push forward and grab a late winning goal? There isn't much separating the two teams at the moment.
83' Southampton have won their first home league match of the season in just three of the last 30 seasons (D12 L15), and haven’t done so in any of their nine seasons since returning to the Premier League in 2012-13 (D5 L4).
81' We're into the final 10 minutes of the game now and it could go either way at the moment, with United unable to regain their earlier form.
K. Walker-Peters
R. Perraud
79' Third and final Saints substitution now, with Perraud the man coming off and he has been replaced by Walker-Peters.
79' Decent effort! Ward-Prowse steps up to take a free-kick around 25 yards out and he gets the ball up and over the wall, but it's not close enough to the corner and De Gea punches it clear.
78' Bit of a delay in the taking of a free-kick, after the United wall start to creep forward and the referee has to pause the game and re-spray his line.
H. Maguire
Yellow Card
76' Maguire is booked for a challenge on Adams, that hands Southampton a free-kick in a very dangerous position around 25 yards out. Ward-Prowse to take it.
S. McTominay
76' Another United change now, with Fred replaced by McTominay.
75' CLOSE! Adams gets the slightest of touches on a corner towards the near post, which sends it towards Armstrong at the back post, but the striker can't turn his header towards goal and United clear the danger.
74' CHANCE! Huge opportunity for Southampton to take the lead! Saints win the ball back in a dangerous position after some good pressure by Ward-Prowse and Armstrong is released through on goal by Adams and the striker only had De Gea to beat, but the keeper makes an excellent save to deny him. He should've done better!
72' The pace of the game has dropped slightly in the last few minutes, with Southampton managing to get up the pitch and enjoy some possession of their own, can they create an opportunity?
I. Diallo
M. Djenepo
70' Southampton have made another change now, with Djenepo already on a yellow card so he is the man coming off and he has been replaced by Diallo.
69' The hosts may want to take a look at making some changes of their own now, as they are struggling to create anything of their own and are penned back inside their own half.
67' It's all United at the moment, it appears to only be a matter of time before United go on and score another goal to fire them into the lead.
65' CHANCE! Another United opportunity, this time it's Fernandes with the header, which almost settles in the bottom right corner of the net, but McCarthy gets across and makes a diving save, before pouncing on the rebound.
64' ALMOST! Lovely ball from the left by Shaw into the path of Sancho, who then chips a cross into the box towards Greenwood and he powers a header towards goal. However, it lands on the top of the net.
63' United have recovered 35 points from losing positions in Premier League games against Southampton, more than any side has against another in the competition’s history.
61' Another stoppage in play here for a Southampton injury, with Adams receiving some medical treatment, but he also should be fine to continue shortly.
59' CLOSE! Pogba does brilliantly on the edge of the penalty area, twisting and turning away from the Saints defenders, before firing a low effort towards the bottom right corner of the net. However, he just drags the shot wide of the post.
J. Sancho
A. Martial
59' Here comes the United change, with Martial the man coming off and he has been replaced by Sancho.
57' It looks like United are getting ready to make their first change of the game, with Sancho the man to come onto the pitch and he'll have plenty of time to make his mark on the game.
P. Pogba
55' Lovely stuff from Pogba, with the Southampton defence unable to get close enough to him to make the challenge and he plays a quick one-two with Fernandes, before setting up Greenwood.
M. Greenwood
55' GOAL! Greenwood equalises for United, it’s 1-1! It starts with Pogba deep down the left, he shows great skill to get the ball past Livramento in the box and into the feet of Fernandes, they play a quick one-two, before Pogba flicks it out to Greenwood. The striker then slots it underneath McCarthy and into the back of the net from close range.
53' Injury concern here for Southampton, as Djenepo is down on the pitch receiving some medical treatment, but it looks like he will be fine to continue.
M. Djenepo
Yellow Card
51' Djenepo is the first Southampton player to be booked after his foul on Fred and then blocking the free-kick as United looked to take it quickly.
50' United are on top in the opening few minutes of the second half, with Southampton getting everyone back behind the ball to defend, but they are trying to break forward on the counter-attack when they can.
48' PENALTY SHOUT! Pogba fires a volley towards goal from the middle of the penalty area, but he strikes Salisu and goes behind for a corner. There are big appeals from the United players for a penalty, but nothing is given and VAR agree with the decision. It strikes his body rather than his arm.
47' It looks like Southampton are now playing with a five-man defence, with Bednarek slotting into centre-back and Livramento and Perraud as wing-backs, who will try and push forward when they can.
J. Bednarek
T. Walcott
46' Southampton have made a substitution at the break, with Walcott the man coming off and he has been replaced by Bednarek.
46' The second half is under way!
United have struggled to get going since conceding and Southampton look pretty comfortable at the moment. The visitors have looked threatening at set pieces, so that is perhaps the way to try and get an equaliser.
Southampton lead 1-0 at the break, thanks to a deflected strike by Adams on the half an hour mark, which has now gone down as a Fred own goal. Both teams started well, with Ward-Prowse going close for the Saints, before Pogba and Martial almost opened the scoring for the visitors. It looked like United would go on and score, but they were caught out at the back and Fred’s own goal sees them go into the break a goal down.
45' There will be a minimum of two minutes added time played at the end of the second half.
44' Good save! Matic rises highest as a corner is whipped into the box by Shaw, but McCarthy reads it well and makes a good stop and holds onto the ball, with Pogba lurking nearby.
44' Into the wall! Fernandes steps up to take a free-kick around 25 yards out and in a good shooting position, but he doesn't get enough on it and the wall does its job well.
43' There isn’t long left to play before the end of the first half, can United find an equaliser before the half-time whistle?
41' Great run! Livramento sprints down the right wing from the edge of his own box and gets all the way into the United final third, skipping past a few defenders, before whipping a low cross into the box. However, Armstrong can't quite get on the end of it.
39' Greenwood manages to find a little bit of space deep in the penalty area after a cross from the right wing, but he can't make any decent contact on the ball and it flies well wide.
37' Prior to this game Adams has been directly involved in four goals in his last four Premier League games for Southampton (two goals, two assists), as many direct goal involvements as he recorded in his previous 21 appearances.
35' The noise has certainly picked up inside St Mary's now, with the Southampton fans getting behind their team and you can see that the home side look a lot more confident. United haven't got going again since conceding.
33' United have had the better chances in this first half, but couldn't convert and now Southampton have been able to punish them at the other end.
Bruno Fernandes
Yellow Card
31' Fernandes has been booked for dissent after complaining to the referee, after he felt that Stephens fouled him in the build-up to the Saints goal.
Own Goal
30' GOAL! Southampton take the lead, it’s 1-0! Adams fires the hosts into the lead after 30 minutes! Stephens wins the ball back from Fernandes and immediately steps up the attack, with Armstrong, Adams and Djenepo linking up well on the edge of the box. Adams then fires a low strike towards goal and it takes a big deflection off Fred, which fools De Gea and flies into the bottom right corner of the net. Although it may go down as an own goal, as Adams initial shot appeared to be heading off target.
28' Decent effort! Armstrong picks up the ball on the edge of the penalty area and opts to fire a shot at goal, but he gets too much on it and his effort flies over the bar.
27' Another free-kick for Saints in a decent position, but this time Ward-Prowse opts to whip the ball into the box for a team-mate, but United manage to clear the danger.
25' The game is a bit scrappy at the moment, with Southampton starting to push a bit higher up the pitch once again, putting United under pressure at the back.
23' Stoppage in play here which the Southampton players are furious about. Greenwood has gone down holding his face, but there is hardly any contact and he appears to be fine. Stephens is especially angry and is getting a talking to from the referee.
21' United are unbeaten in their last 26 away Premier League matches (W17 D9) and a win or draw here would see the Red Devils equal the longest away unbeaten in English top-flight history, set by Arsenal in a 27-game run between April 2003 and September 2004.
19' Southampton can't get out of their own half at the moment, they have everyone back behind the ball and don't look very comfortable when United have possession in the final third.
17' Adams and Armstrong are having to drop deep in order to try and get on the ball and influence the game, linking up midfield and attack. They haven't seen much of the ball so far.
15' It now only seems to be a matter of time before United get the opening goal, most likely from a set piece as they look very dangerous. Southampton need to make some changes at the back on these.
13' Good opportunity! Southampton are really struggling at set pieces so far and United test them once again. Shaw whips another good free-kick into the box and rises Pogba above his marker and powers a header towards goal, but he gets too much on it and it flies over the crossbar.
12' Excellent delivery into the penalty area by Shaw and Pogba meets it at the far post, but his low shot is well blocked by Salisu. Good defending.
11' Southampton won four of their last six Premier League matches against Man Utd at the Dell (L2) but have beaten them just once in 13 league meetings at St Mary’s (D4 L8), a 1-0 win in August 2003 with James Beattie scoring the winner. They are winless in 10 home league games against the Red Devils (D4 L6), despite taking the lead in six of those games.
9' Both teams have now had a good goal scoring chance in the opening few minutes of the game, so we will hopefully see a few goals today.
7' UNITED CHANCES! So close for United! Fernandes whipped a free-kick in from the right wing, which is met by Pogba at the far post, but he doesn't get the best of contact on it and the ball strikes the crossbar. The rebound then falls to Martial just a couple of yards out, but he doesn't get the best of strikes away and Salisu manages to clear it off the line.
5' United have been unable to get the ball down and keep possession in the opening stages, with Southampton starting the game really well.
3' Bright start here by Southampton, they aren't allowing United any time on the ball to settle and play it out from the back. They've won a couple of corners now, can they create anything?
1' SAVE! Ward-Prowse tests De Gea in the opening minute of the game! The Saints skipper steps up to take a free-kick around 35 yards out and he tries to catch the United keeper out at his near post and it almost sneaks into the bottom left corner of the net. However, De Gea made a good save to deny him.
1' We're under way!
The teams are out on the pitch and kick-off is just a few minutes away, stay tuned for all the match action!
