Utterly dominant, both in terms of territory and possession, Marseille failed to create enough clear-cut chances, but were ultimately rewarded for their first-half supremacy when Mbemba struck in stoppage time. Apparently cowed by the crowd, which has created a vociferous backdrop, Tottenham have been too cautious and sitting so deep only served to invite further pressure. It is they who must take the initiative now, as the visitors need a draw to secure a spot in the last 16 - but can OM hold their nerve and see out a famous victory instead?

Tottenham, who won the reverse fixture 2-0 in London on the opening matchday, top Group D before kick-off, but still need three points to ensure a place in next week's Champions League draw. Due to Antonio Conte's touchline ban, his assistant Cristian Stellini will take temporary charge of a side that have failed to win any of their last four away matches in the competition. Should they lose today, the Europa League awaits. Following successive league defeats and a controversial draw with Sporting, confidence in the camp was at least lifted by a comeback win over Bournemouth at the weekend, which leaves Tottenham third in the Premier League table.
A finely-poised final matchday sees qualification from Group D entirely up for grabs, as all four clubs know victory would guarantee safe passage to the knockout stage. That includes fourth-placed Marseille, who were beaten by Eintracht Frankfurt last week to remain on six points - three shy of Spurs. OM's Ligue 1 form has also begun to tail off somewhat, as they have now gone four league games without a win after being held to a 2-2 draw by Strasbourg on Saturday. Furthermore, Igor Tudor's men have won just one of their last five home fixtures; conceding in each of their last six - but the Velodrome will surely be in full voice today.
