Commentary

Thank you for joining our coverage, we hope you enjoyed the game! Until next time, goodbye!
Manchester City face Arsenal next, while Norwich host Bournemouth in the League Cup before Leicester City visit Carrow Road in Premier League action.
There goes the full-time whistle! Manchester City simply outclassed Norwich today to earn their first win of the campaign. Krul's own-goal and Grealish's first City goal in the first half were joined by Laporte's effort from a corner and Sterling and Mahrez's strikes off the bench. Newly promoted Norwich mustered just one shot all game and were well-beaten by the reigning champions. It finishes 5-0 to Manchester City!
90' + 3' FULL-TIME: MANCHESTER CITY 5-0 NORWICH CITY
90' + 1' One minute into three of added time and City are still pressing Norwich right into their own third in an attempt to win the ball and add to their already hefty haul.
89' Sterling takes a speculative shot from distance as he also looks to double his tally, but the substitute can't keep the effort down and sends it high and wide.
87' Mahrez stands over a free-kick to the right of goal, but his effort lacks conviction and is straight into the wall, dashing his hopes of a quickfire double from the bench.
Rúben Dias
Assist
84' Dias showed great vision to see the run of Mahrez and produced a terrific ball to turn safe possession into a goalscoring opportunity.
R. Mahrez
Goal
84' GOAL!!! IT'S FIVE!!!! Dias pings a lovely pass over the top of the defence for the perfectly-timed run of Mahrez, who takes a wonderful touch to kill the ball dead before setting himself and curling in off the base of the far post! It's 5-0 to Manchester City!
81' That effort from Rashica in the 79th minute was Norwich's first shot of the match. Manchester City, meanwhile, have taken 13.
79' OVER! Rashica cuts in from the left and wriggles into the box before lashing a shot at goal, but it flies agonisingly over the bar!
J. Sargent
T. Pukki
77' Farke also makes his third change, replacing Pukki with Sargent up front in the closing stages of the contest.
R. Mahrez
J. Grealish
75' Grealish is given a warm reception from the home supporters as he makes way for Mahrez, with Guardiola making his third change of the contest. Mahrez goes out to the right, with Jesus switching to the left.
73' NO RED CARD! Cantwell goes down holding his face after a tussle with Walker and there's a VAR check to determine if an elbow was used and if a red card should be given, but the referee decides that nothing needs doing!
Gabriel Jesus
Assist
71' Jesus gets his second assist of the day, having also played a major part in the opening goal. He's consistently burst into space down the right and this time Sterling profits from his good work.
R. Sterling
Goal
71' GOAL!!! STERLING SCORES!!! Walker feeds Jesus in behind down the right as City continue to wreak havoc down Norwich's left flank, with the Brazilian cutting the ball across to Sterling, who taps into an empty net 10 minutes after coming off the bench!
C. Palmer
İ. Gündoğan
69' Guardiola makes a change in midfield now, giving 19-year-old Palmer his Premier League debut off the bench in place of Gundogan.
66' CHANCE! Norwich finally get forward and a low cross from the right wing isn't dealt with, catching Gundogan at the back post by surprise and the midfielder turns the ball narrowly past his own post!
Aymeric Laporte
Goal
64' GOAL!! LAPORTE MAKES IT THREE!!! Gundogan's left-wing corner is met in the middle by Laporte, but his glancing header is blocked by Lees-Melou. Rashica's clumsy attempt at a clearance sees the ball fall back to the City defender, however, and he fires a low effort in with his weaker right foot! It's 3-0 to Manchester City now!
63' Sterling has replaced Torres as the side's central striker, with Jesus remaining out on the right wing where he has been so effective today.
R. Sterling
Ferran Torres
61' Guardiola makes his first change of the afternoon, bringing Torres - who will be ruing his disallowed goal - off for Sterling.
59' Grealish is found in acres of space on the left, but Cantwell gets back diligently to help Aarons out and the pair manage to repel the danger, but concede a throw-in.
57' City have just taken their foot off the gas a little now and are keeping the ball securely in deeper areas, biding their time and taking a short breather in possession before their next wave of attacks.
55' WIDE! Jesus, desperate to get on the scoresheet himself, cuts in from the right and into the box, evading several challenges before lashing towards the near post, but he drags the effort just wide!
52' Norwich's early intent has quickly faded and they're back to looking nervy and uncomfortable. City's high press off the ball and quick interchanges in possession are causing no end of problems for the newly promoted side.
50' Jesus drifts in off the right and plays a series of neat one-twos as he makes his way towards the edge of the box. It's fantastic interplay, but Lees-Melou just gets to the ball ahead of the forward and wins a foul.
48' Norwich start the second half with more intent, but an attack breaks down in the final third and City sweep forward on the counter, but Cancelo's low cross from the left is just hacked away from Jesus.
46' We're back underway for the second half!
K. McLean
L. Rupp
46' Rupp is the second player to make way, with McLean taking his place on the left of the midfield three.
B. Mumba
D. Giannoulis
46' Farke wastes no time in making changes, with a double-substitution at half-time. The struggling Giannoulis is replaced at left-back by teenage right-back Mumba in the first alteration.
Norwich will perhaps be thankful to go in at half-time with just a two-goal deficit. It seemed as though Guardiola's men were able to open them up at will and Farke will expect far more discipline and organisation going into the second half. His men have looked nervy, however, and have struggled to make an impact even on the rare occasions that they have had the ball, failing to register a single shot before the break.
There goes the half-time whistle! Manchester City produced a dominant first-half performance, with Jesus particularly threatening from the right wing. The Brazilian forced an own-goal after just seven minutes, with Hanley inadvertently clearing against Krul and in to open the scoring. The ball was in the back of the net again less than 10 minutes later, with Jesus feeding Torres, who finished at the near post, but a VAR review saw the strike disallowed for a foul in the build-up. The hosts did double their lead just a few minutes later, however, as Jesus once again got into space and saw his cross deflect in off the knee of Grealish, who opened his account for his new club. It's 2-0 to Manchester City at the break!
45' + 1' HALF-TIME: MANCHESTER CITY 2-0 NORWICH CITY
45' City win the ball high up and momentarily have a three-on-two situation, but Torres can't feed Grealish into space and his pass is deflected behind for another corner.
43' Walker finds Grealish with an excellent cross-field ball and the new Manchester City signing drives towards the box from the left before curling a cross into the middle that Hanley nods behind for a corner.
41' Jesus is not at all pleased as he's pushed in the back by Giannoulis right in front of the linesman, but the official declines to award a free-kick.
İ. Gündoğan
Yellow Card
39' Gundogan slides in to win the ball from Lees-Melou, but the Manchester City midfielder is late and the wrong side of his man. It's a poor challenge, and deserving of the yellow card he is subsequently shown.
37' Norwich have the chance to counter as Rupp dispossesses Silva, whose appeals for a free-kick are waved away, but a sloppy pass under no pressure sees the ball go out for a throw-in. What a waste for the visitors.
35' Norwich have yet to register a shot of any kind and have barely been in the City third. It's been one-way traffic so far.
33' Norwich appear to be in a fairly organised shape off the ball, but City are carving them open seemingly at will. Everything is clicking for the hosts at the moment.
31' Silva finds himself surrounded on the edge of the box but manages to find an angle to play the ball. The Portuguese perhaps got caught between shooting and passing and the end result is dealt with fairly comfortably by Krul.
28' CHANCE! Gundogan curls in a dangerous free-kick from the left that Rodri tries to get a foot to, but he doesn't connect cleanly and Krul is able to scramble across and prevent the ball from crossing the line!
26' Cancelo pops up in the final third with the ball and decides to have a go at goal from ambitious range, but he gets underneath it and lifts the effort way over the top.
24' Manchester City are in complete control of this game and look especially threatening down their right. When it's not Jesus, Walker is getting plenty of joy as he makes overlapping runs, with Rashica and Giannoulis struggling to cope with the onslaught.
Gabriel Jesus
Assist
22' Jesus has been City's most dangerous player from the right-hand side so far and he gets in behind again before supplying a terrific cross to the back post for Grealish to open his account for his new club!
J. Grealish
Goal
22' GOAL!! GREALISH GETS HIS FIRST GOAL FOR MANCHESTER CITY!!! Jesus is causing all sorts of problems on the right and Walker slides the ball to the byline for the Brazilian to run onto. He gets there ahead of his marker and fires a low ball across the face of goal that takes a little nick off Aarons, who is desperate to intercept. The ball deflects onto the knee of Grealish, following in at the back post, and bounces into the net! It's 2-0 to Manchester City now!
19' City's have lowered the tempo just a fraction since that VAR call went against them and are adopting a slightly more patient approach as they look to unpick the Norwich defence once more.
16' NO GOAL! After reviewing the footage, the referee decides that Rashica was indeed fouled by Silva as he turned with the ball and the goal is chalked off! It remains 1-0 to Manchester City.
15' Rashica feels he's fouled by Silva as he tries to turn out of pressure but there's no whistle and Jesus reacts quickest, firing a low ball into Torres just inside the box. The Spaniard takes one touch to set himself before rifling a low finish past Krul at the near post! City celebrate, but the Norwich players and staff are furious that a foul wasn't awarded. The referee is heading to the sidelines to watch a replay on the screen.
13' Norwich are barely hanging on at the moment as they face wave after wave of Manchester City attacks. The Canaries' back line look nervous both on and off the ball.
11' Norwich are still under the cosh as Manchester City - who look in the mood today - push for a second. The visitors soak up yet more pressure as Torres' effort from outside the box is blocked by a crowd of yellow shirts and cleared away.
9' Jesus appears to be playing as a right winger today, with Torres up front, Grealish on the left and Silva on the right of the midfield three. The Brazilian's wide position helped him to escape attention as he ghosted into the box before playing the killer ball that ultimately resulted in an own-goal.
T. Krul
Own Goal
7' OWN-GOAL! MANCHESTER CITY LEAD!! Rodri pings a lovely ball through to Jesus, whose run into the box down the right is untracked, and the striker takes the ball on his chest before smashing a low volley across the face of goal that Hanley slides in to block away, but the Norwich skipper can only divert the ball against Krul and into his own net! It goes down as a Krul own-goal and it's 1-0 to Manchester City!
5' City are zipping the ball around quickly and playing with purpose and energy. Norwich are pinned back into their third and are sitting in a deep, compact shape in a desperate attempt to keep the hosts at arms' length.
3' Walker bombs down the right on the overlap and fires in a ferocious cross, but Krul comes out and punches to safety. He was taking no chances with that one.
1' We're underway at the Etihad Stadium!
