Commentary

Thanks for joining me for this coverage of the 2-2 draw between Liverpool and Brighton in the Premier League.
That point for the visitors means that they remain in sixth position as they host struggling Newcastle in their next match. Meanwhile, the hosts also stay put and still sit in second position but lose ground on leaders Chelsea as the gap extends to three points. They face a tough test away to West Ham United in their next league game.
What a comeback for the visitors, and it finishes 2-2. They found themselves facing a two goal deficit after early goals from Henderson and then Mane and were perhaps fearing the worst as free-scoring Liverpool looked to be setting themselves up for another big win. However Mwepu struck before half time and then the Seagulls probably had the better of the second half, especially after Trossard levelled with a clinical finish on 65 minutes. The Belgian went on to have a goal disallowed for offside and Potter's men can perhaps count themselves unlucky to be heading back to the south coast with just a single point.

P. Groß
A. Lallana

74' The hosts have a corner that comes out to Henderson on the edge of the box, but he is off balance as he hits his shot and it loops wide.

63' The visitors are causing issues when they come forward. This time it's Mac Allister who tries to weave into the box, but the defence does enough to dispossess him and clear.

A. Mac Allister
Y. Bissouma

48' Salah thinks he has made it 3-1 as he finishes after rounding Sanchez but the linesman flags for offside.
46' The visitors get us back underway for the second half.
It sets us up for an intriguing second period as the visitors look to get back on level terms while the hosts look to extend their lead. While Liverpool have been the better team, Brighton have certainly had their moments and will hope to up the tempo in their search for points on the road.
And so we go to the break with the scoreline 2-1 to Liverpool. It looked as if it would be another high-scoring victory for them after goals from Henderson and Mane put them into the lead, and especially after Mane blocked a Sanchez clearance into the Brighton net to make it 3-0. However the ball was adjudged to have hit Mane's arm and the goal was disallowed, and the visitors took advantage of their lifeline as Mwepu sent the ball over Alisson to get his team back into the game.
45' + 2' HALF TIME: LIVERPOOL 2-1 BRIGHTON

S. March
Assist
41' March laid the ball off to Mwepu to send the ball flying over Alisson.
E. Mwepu
Goal
41' It's 2-1! Mwepu sends a cross shot over into the box and it just manages to squeeze between the crossbar and the fingertips of Alisson into the back of the net. Did he mean it?
40' Trossard sends a low delivery into the box but there isn't anybody to meet it as it dribbles across the face of goal.
39' Salah tries to send a cross over to the back post but Sanchez does well to come and claim it.
37' Salah has been involved in nine goals in his eight Premier League games against today's opponents, with five goals and four assists. Can he add to that tally here?
35' The goal is disallowed and the scoreline remains 2-0 to Liverpool.
34' What a howler! It's 3-0 to the hosts as Dunk plays it back to Sanchez who takes too long to play the ball upfield and the pressing Mane blocks it, sending it into the back of the net. There is a VAR check going on, as it appears it comes off Mane's arm.
33' Duffy does brilliantly to get in the way of Firmino's shot from the edge of the area.
32' It's been an encouraging response from the visitors as they look to get back into this game.
30' Trossard gets too much on his cross and it flies over the heads of his teammates in the area.
28' A great chance for the visitors goes begging as Cucurella dinks a cross to the back post, and Mwepu just can't get enough height on his jump to send his header down at goal and his attempt instead flies well over.
26' You have to feel there needs to be a quick response from Brighton or this could become a long afternoon.
A. Oxlade-Chamberlain
Assist
24' The cross from Oxlade-Chamberlain was absolutely perfect and Mane couldn't miss.

N. Keïta
19' Oxlade-Chamberlain comes on for the injured Keita.

18' Firmino, trying to atone for that bad miss, plays a low cross in but there is nobody there to meet it in the middle.
16' Firmino misses a great opportunity! He is played in by Salah and tries to dink it over the keeper Sanchez but gets it badly wrong and it flies well over.
14' Bissouma hits the post! The midfielder drives forward with the ball before unleashing a shot at goal, which Alisson does brilliantly to turn onto the frame of the goal.
12' The hosts have won both of their last two Premier League games 5-0, and are looking to become the fourth team to win three top-flight games in a row by five goals or more.
10' Lallana sends a tame shot well wide against his former team when there was other options left and right.
8' The visitors are trying to press high and win the ball up the pitch but Klopp's men are so far doing well to beat that press and play upfield.
6' The hosts send a couple of dangerous crosses into the box as they look for a quick second goal.
Mohamed Salah
Assist
4' The pass from Salah to Henderson was perfectly weighted for Henderson to finish superbly.
J. Henderson
Goal
4' It's 1-0 to Liverpool! It's Salah who cuts in from the right and lays it off to Henderson on the edge of the box, allowing the captain to smash it into the far corner to give his side the lead.
3' The visitors should have an early lead! March is played in but takes too long with his shot and the angle narrows, meaning that Alisson makes a relatively comfortable save from the winger.
2' Duffy does well to deal with a lofted through ball as he calmly heads it back to his goalkeeper Sanchez.
1' The hosts kick us off and we are underway.
The two sides make their way onto the pitch.
Visiting boss Graham Potter goes with three alterations from the defeat to the champions as Duffy, Bissouma and Mwepu start in place of Dan Burn, Gross and Maupay.
