1 - 0
A. Mooy (50)
John Smith's Stadium

Thanks for joining our commentary this afternoon. Until next time, goodbye.
Huddersfield's fine start to the Premier League season continues as Aaron Mooy's strike hands them the three points this afternoon. They join Hull City and Bolton as newly-promoted sides to win their opening two matches of the top-flight campaign, winning their first home match in the division. Newcastle had a couple of brief moments, but it looks to be a long season ahead for Rafael Benitez and his men.
90' + 5' Newcastle have a throw-in deep in Huddersfield territory, but Hefele heads behind for a corner. However, the referee blows the whistle before it can be taken.
90' + 4' Hefele clears the danger from Elliot's long kick forward, but Newcastle will get one more chance from a free-kick just inside the Terriers' half.
90' + 3' Manquillo floats the ball into the box and Joselu makes contact on the volley, but he can only scuff his effort into the hands of Lossl.
90' + 3' Time is running out for Newcastle they need to get the ball forward into the box.
M. Hefele
T. Ince
Huddersfield Town
90' + 2' Ince is replaced by Hefele for the closing stages.
J. Lascelles
Yellow Card
Newcastle United
90' + 1' Lascelles for jumping with Mounie. A very harsh booking for the Newcastle skipper.
90' There will be four minutes of added time.
90' Joselu almost gets the better of Schindler in the final third, but the Terriers have enough men back to cope with the danger.
89' SAVE! Murphy flicks the ball into the path of Joselu in the final third and the striker connects well with his half-volley, but Lossl gets down to make the save.
S. Mounié
Yellow Card
Huddersfield Town
88' Mounie goes into the book for jumping into Clark.
87' The Terriers are doing a solid job of taking the sting out of the game by retaining possession in the corner. It's desperation time for Newcastle now.
85' Diame loses possession to Mooy and the Australian sends the ball into the corner of Quaner. The substitute wins a corner for the home side, while taking vital seconds off the clock.
84' Lascelles lumps the ball forward into the box and Joselu flicks the ball on towards the net, but Lossl gathers with relative ease.
82' Huddersfield clear their lines, but it's going to be all hands on deck for the final eight minutes.
81' BLOCK! Murphy rolls Lowe down the right flank and fires at goal, but the defender gets back to make the vital block. Can Newcastle maintain the pressure from the corner?
J. Murphy
Ayoze Pérez
Newcastle United
80' Last roll of the dice for Benitez as Murphy replaces Perez.
K. Palmer
Yellow Card
Huddersfield Town
77' Palmer catches Lascelles late and goes into the book.
77' Huddersfield are now shaping up to quell the Magpies for the final stages of the match and hit them on the counter.
M. Diamé
I. Hayden
Newcastle United
76' Hayden makes way for Diame for the visitors.
75' Ince leaves Manquillo for dead down the left flank and Lascelles has to come across to quell the danger, blocking the cross out for a throw-in.
75' CLOSE! Mooy's delivery almost falls for Palmer in the box, but he just cannot react in time as Elliot gathers the loose ball in the six-yard box.
74' Smith raids deep into the Newcastle half and he manages to buy a corner off the legs of Clark. Huddersfield trying to kill the game off here.
73' Billing and Palmer exchange passes to send the former down the left flank. He tries to send the ball across the face of goal, but it's in front of all the blue and white shirts in the box and goes out for a goal-kick.
K. Palmer
E. Kachunga
Huddersfield Town
72' Palmer replaces Kachunga for the home side.
71' WIDE! Space opens up for Hayden to have a drive 30 yards from goal, but he fires his effort well wide of the target. However, chances are beginning to mount for Newcastle.
71' Manquillo stabs the ball into the feet of Perez, who tries to turn Schindler, but the defender holds firm once again.
C. Quaner
R. van La Parra
Huddersfield Town
69' Quaner replaces Van La Parra for the home side.
69' OVER! From the resulting corner Ritchie sweeps the ball out towards the edge of the box and Clark win the initial header. Perez latches on to the loose ball, but can only fire his left-footed volley over the bar.
68' CHANCE! Newcastle play their way through the home side's backline as Perez, Merino and Joselu combine for the latter to strike. However, Lowe comes across and does enough to put the forward off his strike, although Lossl still makes a fine save.
67' Ritchie attempts to pick ou Perez on the edge of the line from the resulting free-kick, but the Spaniard is caught offside.
P. Billing
Yellow Card
Huddersfield Town
66' Billing gives away a free-kick in a dangerous position as he pulls back Atsu. The midfielder goes into the book for his challenge.
Yellow Card
Newcastle United
64' Joselu goes in too hard in his bid to close down Lossl and catches the keeper late. Pawson books the Spaniard on his debut.
63' Merino sends a brilliant pass out to the right flank for an unmarked Manquillo, but the Spaniard cannot cut the ball back for Joselu in the middle as Lossl gathers. That was a chance for the visitors.
62' Manquillo gets forward down the right and he lifts a cross to the back post, but he gets too much on it as Ritchie cannot stop the ball from going out for a goal-kick.
60' Merino gifts away possession for the visitors now as he hammers the ball forward straight into the hands of Lossl.
58' Newcastle are struggling to click in the final third as Atsu wastes a promising break down the right, losing possession to Lowe.
56' Huddersfield can't threaten from the set-piece and Atsu leads a counter. Perez tries to pick out Joselu on the left, but Mooy covers the space and sends the ball out for a throw-in.
55' Smith slides the ball into the right flank for Kachunga to chase, but Clark covers ground to send the ball out for a corner.
54' The Magpies cannot afford to lose their discipline as they did last week against Spurs. Ritchie and Hayden are treading a tight line now.
I. Hayden
Yellow Card
Newcastle United
53' Hayden goes into the book for a late challenge on Billing.
52' The John Smith's Stadium is rocking now after Mooy's goal. Newcastle have to hold firm to stop the home side's momentum.
D. Gayle
Newcastle United
52' Joselu makes his Newcastle debut as he replaces Gayle.
E. Kachunga
Huddersfield Town
50' Kachunga moves into space and tees up Mooy for his strike with a weighted pass.
A. Mooy
Huddersfield Town
50' GOALLLLLLL!!!!!!! MOOY SCORES A STUNNER! Huddersfield take the lead and score their first Premier League home goal through the Australian. Mooy plays a one-two with Kachunga in the box before collecting and curling his effort beyond the reach of Elliot into the top corner. A super strike from the midfielder.
48' Huddersfield waste a surge into the final third as Kachunga loses possession on the edge of the box in an attempt to find Mounie.
47' Smith takes a heavy touch on a break upfield and goes on a slide to attempt to continue his momentum. He leaves his feet, but fortunately for him he does not  make contact with Mbemba.
46' We're back underway at John Smith's Stadium.
The players are back out for the second half, so we should be underway shortly.
David Wagner will be satisfied with his side's effort, although he will be demanding more quality in the final third. Rafael Benitez will be pleased with his team's resilience, but will also be looking for a clinical edge in the second period.
It's goalless at the break as neither side has been able to conjure a breakthrough. Huddersfield dominated possession, but did not carve out a clear-cut opening at goal. The best opening of the half came for Newcastle as Matt Ritchie's goalbound drive was brilliantly saved by Jonas Lossl.
45' + 2' Huddersfield cannot threaten from the second corner as the referee ends the first half.
45' + 1' CLOSE! Kachunga wins the ball in the middle of the park and has two options ahead of him. He opts to slide the ball towards Mounie, but does not get enough on his pass, allowing Mbemba to slide the ball behind for a corner.
45' + 1' SCRAMBLE! Mounie almost makes contact from the resulting corner, but Newcastle manage to get enough men back behind the ball to scramble the ball behind.
45' BLOCK! Ritchie finds space in the final third after Perez tees up him in the box, but his strike at goal is blocked by Lowe.
44' Mooy sends the ball long over the head of Mbemba, but the defender watches the ball safely out for a goal-kick, giving Kachunga a nudge in the process.
43' The Terriers have lost their attacking impetus that was present earlier in the contest. The tempo has been slowed and may require an adjustment at the break tactically to reinvigorate their charge.
M. Ritchie
Yellow Card
Newcastle United
41' Ritchie goes into the book for a foul on Mooy.
41' Lossl comes outside of his box to clear a long ball forward from Gayle. He gets himself in a tangle, heading the ball straight to Perez. However, the Spaniard scuffs his attempted strike which allows the Huddersfield keeper to clear at the second attempt.
38' Hayden finds himself in an advanced position and attempts to buy a corner off the legs of Schindler, but the home side get the decision from the linesman.
36' Wagner will be satisfied with his side's exploits in the first half, although Benitez will arguably be the happier of the two managers if the score remains goalless at the break.
34' CHANCE! Atsu does well to raid into space down the right and he sends a low cross towards the near post. Schindler does brilliantly for the Terriers at the back as he cuts out the cross and then performs an inch-perfect tackle to dispossess Gayle.
33' For the first time in the match Manquillo gets a handle on Van La Parra, and the Huddersfield winger fouls him in his attempt to regain possession. Couple of flash points starting to accumulate on the pitch.
31' Hayden flies into a challenge on Mooy and although he wins the ball, he almost got a chunk of the Australian. Only a talking to from referee Pawson though...
30' Ritchie has one, two, three opportunities to send a cross into the box, but he fails to beat the first man on all three occasions. Very disappointing from the winger and Benitez will not be happy with that one.
29' Billing dives in on Perez in the final third and hands Newcastle a free-kick in a decent position with Ritchie to deliver from the left flank.
27' PENALTY APPEAL! The home supporters behind the goal go up in arms for a penalty as Atsu heads the ball off Lowe at the back post. The defender did have his arm outstretched, but it may have hit his back before making contact with the arm. Atsu didn't seem that convinced.
26' Manquillo has space to raid into down the right, but Schindler reads the danger and slides across to put the ball out for a throw-in.
24' Newcastle make a rare foray forward as Perez stabs the ball towards Gayle, but the forward is caught offside.
22' CHANCE! Mounie presses Manquillo at the back and he wins possession on the byline. He cuts the ball back for Ince in the box, but the midfielder can only scuff his effort at goal under pressure from Hayden.
21' CLOSE! Mooy does lift a fine cross into the box, but Lascelles does just enough to edge him out of position to make contact. Elliot came for the ball, but was in no man's land. A touch on that cross would have been the opening goal.
20' Van La Parra twists and turns down the left flank and he wins another corner off Manquillo. Huddersfield need a quality delivery into the box from Mooy.
18' Newcastle have sat back for the majority of the match, but the Ritchie effort highlights the quality at their disposal in the final third.
16' SAVE! Ritchie almost breaks the deadlock against the run of play as he smashes a low strike towards the bottom corner from the edge of the box. His effort looks to be heading towards the net, but Lossl gets a fingertip to the ball to divert it past the post.
15' SAVE! Atsu almost puts his side in trouble as the ball deflects off him straight into the path of Ince. The midfielder shoots first time on his left foot, but he fires straight at Elliot.
13' Smith fires a low cross into the box from the right flank and Mounie attempts to latch on to the ball. Lascelles goes for the unconventional diving headed clearance and gets there just ahead of the forward. He had to make contact with the ball because he wiped out Mounie after the fact.
11' Kachunga drifts into space down the right and he floats a dangerous ball into the box, but Lascelles gets there ahead of Mounie to clear the danger.
10' Ince gets in between the Newcastle midfield and defence and probes on the edge of the box. His first shot is blocked, but he gathers on the rebound. Ince goes for the strike again, although on this occasion he fires over.
9' OVER! Newcastle clear their lines from the corner and Smith collects deep to go for the spectacular, but he hammers his effort well over the bar.
8' Huddersfield break with pace down the left through Ince, but Newcastle quell the initial foray forward. Van La Parra goes on a surge down the flank again and this time wins a corner off the legs of Manquillo.
6' Hayden slides in on Mounie, who then responds by stepping on the midfielder. He's very fortunate that the officials missed that.
4' SHOT! Lowe raids down the left and sends a low cross into the box, which is cleared but only as far as Mooy. The Australian goes for the strike from distance, but Elliot makes a comfortable save.
3' Mbemba gets a knock to the face from Kachunga as Elliot slices his clearance. The Belgian defender is starting at left-back today and gets an early blow for his troubles.
2' BLOCK! Newcastle make a bright start to the game as Gayle tees up Perez inside the box. The Spaniard goes to pull the trigger, but Jorgensen gets across to make a vital block to stop his strike reaching the target.
1' We're underway at the John Smith's Stadium.
The players are making their way out on to the pitch, so we should be underway shortly.
STAT ATTACK! Only two promoted sides in the history of the Premier League have won their opening two matches. Hull City won their first two matches last season, while Bolton Wanderers achieved the feat in 2001.
STAT ATTACK! Huddersfield have won only one of their last 11 meetings against Newcastle. That came in the earlier fixture between the sides at St James' Park last season where Wagner's men were 2-1 victors.
FLASHBACK! Newcastle won this contest last season 3-1 on their way to the Championship title. Goals from Matt Ritchie, Dwight Gayle and Daryl Murphy handed the Magpies the victory, despite a penalty from Aaron Mooy.
Newcastle have made three changes from their defeat to Spurs - all of them are enforced. Shelvey's ban obviously rules him out and Mikel Merino comes into the side to replace him in the middle of the park. Injuries to Paul Dummett and Florian LeJeune press Chancel Mbemba and Jamaal Lascelles into action after both started the opener on the bench, with Ciaran Clark potentially shifting to left-back.
Huddersfield have made one change from their win over Palace. Rajiv van La Parra comes into the side to replace Kasey Palmer, who drops to the bench. Mounie continues to lead the line, while Tom Ince could shift into a central area behind him in support this afternoon.
Newcastle subs: Joselu, Saivet, Murphy, Diame, Aarons, Darlow, Mitrovic.
NEWCASTLE (4-2-3-1): Elliot; Manquillo, Lascelles, Mbemba, Clark; Hayden, Merino; Ritchie, Perez, Atsu; Gayle.
Huddersfield subs: Malone, Coleman, Lolley, Williams, Quaner, Hefele, Palmer.
HUDDERSFIELD (4-2-3-1): Lossl; Smith, Jorgensen, Schindler, Lowe; Billing, Mooy; Kachunga, Ince, Van La Parra; Mounie.
The team news has been announced and we'll start with the home side.
Newcastle had a nightmare start to life back in the Premier League. Rafael Benitez's men frustrated Tottenham for the opening 48 minutes of the contest before a moment of madness of Jonjo Shelvey reduced them to 10 men. Dele Alli and Ben Davies capitalised to guide Spurs to a comfortable three points.
Huddersfield began life in the Premier League perfectly by defeating Crystal Palace 3-0 at Selhurst Park. Record signing Steve Mounie scored a brace on his debut, while an own goal from Joel Ward kickstarted their victory. David Wagner will now be looking for a similar performance against the Magpies today.
Good afternoon and welcome to the live commentary of the Premier League clash between Huddersfield and Newcastle at John Smith's Stadium.
