Commentary

Thanks for joining our commentary this evening. Until next time, goodbye.
Chelsea end their Premier League campaign at the weekend on the road against Leicester City. Frankfurt continue their push to finish in the top four of the Bundesliga against Mainz 05 at home on Sunday.
Chelsea will face Arsenal in the final of the Europa League after battling past Eintracht Frankfurt on penalties. Nothing could separate the two sides on the field as Ruben Loftus-Cheek saw his effort cancelled out by Luka Jovic. Neither of the teams was able to make the most of opportunities in extra-time, forcing the shootout. Cesar Azpilicueta was the first to miss for the Blues, but Kepa brought his team back from the brink to deny Martin Hinteregger and Goncalo Paciencia. It allowed Eden Hazard to convert the winning penalty to put Maurizio Sarri's men on a collision course with their London rivals.

D. Zappacosta
Yellow Card
Chelsea
120' + 1' Zappacosta goes into the book for his challenge.
120' + 1' Haller wins the visitors a free-kick from a challenge by Zappacosta. Frankfurt are putting numbers forward for the set-piece.

Gonçalo Paciência
M. Gaćinović
Eintracht Frankfurt
118' Paciencia replaces Gacinovic for the visitors with an eye on penalties.
116' DISALLOWED GOAL! Drama with four minutes remaining as Azpilicueta challenges Trapp from a cross into the box. The keeper appears to have the ball in two hands, but the Chelsea skipper nods it over the line into the net. However, the home side's celebrations are cut short as the referee blows for a foul on the German.
115' SAVE! Zappacosta collects on the edge of the box and he hammers an effort towards goal, only to be denied by the fingertips of Trapp.
113' Both Emerson and Hinteregger are back on their feet and okay to continue the match.
112' CHALLENGE! Emerson has space to raid into down the left inside channel. He sees his low drive well saved by Trapp before he goes for the rebound. However, Hinteregger comes out of nowhere to make a huge tackle to stop his strike. Both players are down injured after the fact.

106' Pedro tries to feed the run of Higuain on the edge of the box, but he puts in a poor first touch and loses out to Hasebe.
106' We're back underway at Stamford Bridge.
Chelsea were spared twice in the first-half of extra-time. David Luiz and Davide Zappacosta were both needed to make goalline clearances to deny Sebastien Haller. We're entering the final 15 minutes of action before the contest could be decided by penalties.
105' + 1' HALF-TIME EXTRA-TIME: CHELSEA 1 (2) - (2) 1 EINTRACHT FRANKFURT
105' + 1' CHANCE! Da Costa wins a corner for the visitors and then delivers the ball into the box. Haller rises to head at goal, but he sees his goalbound effort guided over the bar by Zappacosta racing back on to the line to cover.
105' There will be one minute of added time.
104' Hazard wastes a delivery into the box, allowing Trapp to claim his cross with ease.
103' Barkley latches on to a loose ball 25 yards from goal and with little options around him, the midfielder goes for goal. He strikes his drive with power, but not accuracy, sending his attempt wide of the post.
102' Pedro wastes a promising attacking position with a loose first touch before he fouls Hinteregger in an attempt to regain possession.
100' OFF THE LINE! David Luiz saves Chelsea with a goalline clearance to deny Haller. Kostic raids down the left flank and fires a low ball to the back post. Haller makes glancing contact on his left foot, sending the ball towards the bottom corner. Kepa is beaten, but David Luiz gets back just in time to clear the danger.
97' Hazard leads a Chelsea surge through the middle and he has ample options to the left and right. However, he chooses Higuain before the Argentine sees his low cross cleared away by the Frankfurt defence.
G. Higuaín
O. Giroud
Chelsea
96' Sarri uses his additional substitute in replacing Giroud with Higuain.
96' OVER! Chelsea win a corner down the right and Azpilicueta gets ahead of his man to steer an effort towards goal, only to lift his attempt over the bar from six yards.
94' OVER! Barkley makes an impact on the break, although he sees his first offload diverted away from Pedro by Falette. The second time he goes for goal himself, only to send his strike narrowly over the bar.
93' Falette and Barkley collide in the air from the resulting corner, but the referee is not interested in his appeal for a penalty.
92' BLOCK! Jovic breaks behind the Chelsea defence, but Azpilicueta recovers to divert his attempt at goal behind for a corner.
91' We're underway in extra-time at Stamford Bridge.
The contest goes to extra-time as Luka Jovic's strike early in the second half brought Eintracht Frankfurt back into the tie. Ruben Loftus-Cheek's effort in the first half had Chelsea on their way to the final. However, Jovic converted from close range to keep the German side alive for now. An extra 30 minutes will be needed to separate the two sides.
90' + 6' END OF 90 MINUTES: CHELSEA 1 (2) - (2) 1 EINTRACHT FRANKFURT
90' + 6' Hinteregger rises in the middle, but he cannot make clean contact from De Guzman's corner before the referee blows to end the second half.
90' + 5' David Luiz heads behind, but there is still time for Frankfurt to put the pressure on from the corner.

R. Barkley
R. Loftus-Cheek
Chelsea
86' Loftus-Cheek is withdrawn for Barkley and the Chelsea fans are not happy with the decision. The England man has been a threat this evening, although he has faded in the second half.
85' BLOCK! De Guzman lines up the strike from 20 yards, but he drills his effort into the wall before Kepa gathers the loose ball. Azpilicueta can breathe again.
83' Azpilicueta bring down Rebic on the edge of the box, handing Frankfurt a great opening from a free-kick. The Chelsea skipper has to be careful now.
Azpilicueta
Yellow Card
Chelsea

80' Chelsea are searching for a moment of inspiration from someone, but there has not been a spark in the second half.
78' CHANCE! Loftus-Cheek works the ball out wide to Zappacosta, who goes for a strike from distance. Trapp makes an unconvincing stop, pushing the ball out. It almost falls to Hazard, but fortunately for the visitors it evades the Belgian.
76' Giroud wins a free-kick for the hosts, but the Frenchman can only guide his header from Hazard's delivery well wide of the target.
D. Zappacosta
A. Christensen
Chelsea
74' A surprising change for the hosts as Sarri opts to replace Christensen with Zappacosta rather than a natural centre-back in Cahill. Azpilicueta slides next to David Luiz in the middle.
73' Christensen falls in an aerial challenge with Rebic and he may have to be withdrawn. He took a knock in the first half that he appeared to shake off, but the latest fall has knocked him out of the game.
71' WIDE! David Luiz collects 30 yards from goal and he lines up a blast towards the target that travels comfortably wide of the post.
J. de Guzmán
S. Rode
Eintracht Frankfurt
70' De Guzman replaces Rode for the visitors in the middle of the park.
68' Rode is down on the left flank for the visitors and limps off the field, not putting any weight on his left leg. He will likely have to make way.
66' Emerson raids down the left flank and he forces a low ball into the middle for Giroud, but the pressure from Hinteregger sees it travel out for a goal-kick.
65' Chelsea have no rhythm to their play at the moment and they're struggling to cope with the visitors in the final third.
63' BLOCK! Frankfurt build down the right flank through Da Costa. He clips a cross into the box that is deflected away by Azpilicueta. However, Rode goes for the strike on the follow-up that has to be diverted behind by Christensen.
Pedro
Willian
Chelsea
62' Willian makes way for Pedro for the home side.
61' Frustration for the home side as Azpilicueta fires two low crosses into the box and the second causes huge issues for Trapp. He knocks the ball out into the middle of the box, but there is no blue shirt there ready to pounce.
59' SAVE! Kepa makes another solid stop to deny the visitors as Gacinovic lines up a volley from the edge of the box. He hits his effort straight at the Spaniard, allowing the Chelsea keeper to punch the ball away. Kostic then goes for a low strike that he fires well wide of the target.
58' Rebic and Jovic try to put the pressure on the edge of the Chelsea box, but the home side manage to get men behind the ball to hold firm through the middle.
56' David Luiz floats the ball out wide to Willian in acres of space. The Brazilian has support in the middle, but he sends a tame low cross into the box that Trapp gathers with ease.
55' Willian makes a run down the right flank and he floats a cross into the box for Giroud, but Hinteregger diverts the ball back to Trapp.
54' Chelsea have lost their grip on the game since the restart. They've been rocked by Frankfurt's impressive start to the half. Sarri needs a response from his team to regain the advantage in the tie.
M. Kovačić
Yellow Card
Chelsea
52' Kovacic slides in hard on Falette and goes into the book for his challenge.
51' WIDE! Hazard runs at the Frankfurt defence before backheeling his pass to Giroud on the charge. The Frenchman goes for goal with the outside of his boot, but he places his effort comfortably wide of the target.

L. Jović
Goal
Eintracht Frankfurt
49' GOALLLLLLLLL!!! JOVIC EQUALISES FOR THE VISITORS!!! 1-1!!! Game on as Frankfurt are back in the tie, scoring a crucial away goal to leave the contest in the balance. Jovic wins the knockdown towards Gacinovic before the latter threads a precise throughball behind the Chelsea defence. David Luiz moves into no man's land and allows Jovic to raid behind him. The striker holds his composure to slot his strike past Kepa.
49' PENALTY SHOUT! Rebic probes down the left flank and the ball strikes Christensen from close range. The visitors appeal for a penalty, but the referee turns down their claims.
48' David Luiz loses possession in the final third and it almost allows Jovic to threaten, but he loses his footing on the pitch and allows the Brazilian to regain control.
46' BLOCK! Rebic feeds Kostic on the edge of the box and he goes for a drive at goal, only to see his effort blocked by Azpilicueta.
46' We're back underway at Stamford Bridge.
Frankfurt have had a couple of moments outside of Da Costa's strike. Luka Jovic and Ante Rebic pressed forward after mistakes by Jorginho in the middle of the park, although neither were able to capitalise. The visitors need to press the issue in the second half to keep their Europa League final dream alive.
Chelsea are 45 minutes away from securing a Europa League final berth, holding a 1-0 lead on the night and a 2-1 advantage on aggregate over Eintracht Frankfurt. The Blues entered this evening knowing that their away goal gave them a solid platform. Adi Hutter's men did come out of the traps firing, which saw Kepa Arrizabalaga produce a fine save to deny Danny da Costa. Olivier Giroud saw an effort saved at the other end before Ruben Loftus-Cheek calmed Chelsea nerves put bending an effort into the bottom corner. The Blues were comfortable for the majority of the first half, putting the pressure on the German outfit to produce a response after the restart.
45' HALF-TIME: CHELSEA 1-0 EINTRACHT FRANKFURT
44' Frankfurt have lost their way since going behind. They made a bright start to the contest, but have not been able to put the Blues under a sustained period of pressure to get the away goal they require.
42' Loftus-Cheek continues to cause problems for the visitors. This time he bustles to win a free-kick from a challenge from Jovic. He's having a good first half.
S. Rode
Yellow Card
Eintracht Frankfurt
40' Rode goes into the book for a hard challenge on Giroud in the build-up to Chelsea's attack.
39' WIDE! Jorginho brings Chelsea out from the back before Hazard takes over down the left flank. He works an opening before Loftus-Cheek takes over in the box. The England man goes for the strike, but Rode knocks it behind for a corner.
S. Falette
Yellow Card
Eintracht Frankfurt
38' Falette catches Willian on the back of his right leg with a scrape. It's not a good challenge and he rightfully goes into the book.
37' Jorginho loses out again in the midfield for the Blues to Jovic. On this occasion the forward feeds the run of Rebic, but David Luiz gets across to make a covering challenge to stop the strike.
35' Jorginho plays a loose pass in the middle of the park and it almost allows Frankfurt to press foward. Jovic sees a strike from the edge of the box charged down before Chelsea are eventually able to clear their lines.
34' Chelsea are moving fluidly up and down the pitch and are putting the pulling the visitors' backline apart with their movement.

30' Loftus-Cheek almost breaks in behind the Frankfurt defence once again, but on this occasion Hinteregger makes an important interception.
E. Hazard
Assist
Chelsea
28' Hazard releases the run of Loftus-Cheek, who does the rest with a composed finish.
R. Loftus-Cheek
Goal
Chelsea
28' GOALLLLLLLLLLLL!!!! LOFTUS-CHEEK PUTS CHELSEA AHEAD!!! 1-0!! The Blues take control of the tie as the England man curls a low strike into the bottom corner. He peels off the back of Rode in the box, latching on to Hazard's offload. Loftus-Cheek has the space and time in the left inside channel to bend his right-footed effort around Trapp to find the net.
27' Azpilicueta raids down the right flank and cuts the ball back into the middle, only to see his cross cleared away by Falette.
26' Chelsea have upped the ante over the last few minutes and are beginning to exert pressure on the Frankfurt goal.
24' OFF THE LINE! David Luiz rises highest to flick Willian's delivery towards goal, only to be denied by a brilliant clearance from Hasebe on the line. So close for the home side.
23' Emerson makes another run down the left and wins a free-kick after being brought down by Da Costa.
23' SAVE! Hazard releases Emerson down the left flank and he supplies a low ball towards the near post. Giroud clips a strike towards goal, only to be denied by the body of Trapp.
22' David Luiz makes a charge down the left flank and he fires a low cross into the middle that just misses the boot of Giroud before being cleared ahead of Willian.
20' Sarri will be satisfied with his side's start to the game, although complete control of the tie has still evaded them.
18' David Luiz tries to catch out the Frankfurt backline with a lofted ball forward from a free-kick. It bounces awkwardly in the box, but away from Giroud after he got the wrong side of Abraham.
17' Chelsea win a corner down the right flank and Willian takes it short, combining with Hazard, before he fires the ball low towards the near post. Somehow the visitors are able to keep it away from all of the blue shirts in the box before clearing their lines.
15' KEPA MAKES A FINE STOP! Frankfurt are denied the opener this evening as the Chelsea keeper makes a brilliant save to deny Da Costa. Jovic fends off David Luiz on the left flank before lifting a cross to the right flank. Da Costa takes the strike on first time, directing his volley towards the top corner. However, Kepa turns his attempt over the bar.
14' BLOCK! Kostic goes for the blast from 25 yards, but he fires a poor effort towards the target that is blocked by the legs of the Chelsea wall.
13' Kovacic is penalised for handball deep in his own half, handing Frankfurt a free-kick in a dangerous position.
12' Falette heads the first corner behind for another Chelsea set-piece before the visitors are able to clear their lines from a second delivery.
11' PENALTY SHOUT! Loftus-Cheek goes down in the box, but nothing is given. Willian breaks down the right and fires a low ball across the face of goal. Giroud tries to flick it towards the target, but fails to connect. The ball almost falls for Loftus-Cheek, but he is eased out by Da Costa, which sees the home side appeal for a penalty. The referee is unmoved before Hazard sees a strike deflected over the bar.
9' Jorginho releases the run of Hazard over the top, but the Belgian just cannot take the ball in stride as it bounces through to Trapp.
7' Loftus-Cheek runs at the Frankfurt defence with pace, but he loses control of the ball, allowing Abraham to get a foot in to make the challenge.
6' David Luiz carries the ball forward from the back before lifting a ball forward aiming for Willian, but the Brazilian overhits his pass out for a goal-kick.
4' Jovic rises to head the resulting corner from Rode at goal, getting the best of David Luiz. However, Kepa gets down to make a comfortable stop.
4' Kostic makes a dangerous turn down the left flank and he supplies a cross into the middle that Emerson has to head behind.
2' Emerson goes on the charge upfield before losing out to Hinteregger. The Chelsea full-back then fouls the defender to ease the pressure on the visitors' backline.
1' We're underway at Stamford Bridge.
Chelsea have been eliminated on three of the last four occasions they’ve drawn the first leg of a European knockout tie away from home, including their most recent two (vs PSG in the 2014-15 Champions League and vs Atletico in the 2013-14 Champions League).
Hutter has made four changes to the team that was thrashed last time out by Leverkusen. Falette comes into the back three alongside Hinteregger and Abraham. Rode slots into the midfield, while Gacinovic and Jovic return to spearhead the attack. Ndicka and Fernandes drop to the bench, while Jetro Willems and Almamy Toure miss out altogether.
Chelsea have made four changes from their win over Watford last time out. Emerson, Loftus-Cheek, Willian and Giroud come into the fold tonight. Higuain, Pedro and Alonso drop to the bench, while N'Golo Kante misses out due to injury.
EINTRACHT FRANKFURT SUBS: Frederik Ronnow, Evan Ndicka, Gelson Fernandes, Jonathan de Guzman, Sebastien Haller, Timothy Chandler, Goncalo Paciencia.
EINTRACHT FRANKFURT (3-4-3): Kevin Trapp; David Abraham, Martin Hinteregger, Simon Falette; Danny da Costa, Sebastian Rode, Makoto Hasebe, Filip Kostic; Ante Rebic, Mijat Gacinovic, Luka Jovic.
CHELSEA SUBS: Marcos Alonso, Ross Barkley, Gonzalo Higuain, Pedro, Willy Caballero, Davide Zappacosta, Gary Cahill.
CHELSEA (4-3-3): Kepa Arrizabalaga; Cesar Azpilicueta, Andreas Christensen, David Luiz, Emerson Palmieri; Mateo Kovacic, Jorginho, Ruben Loftus-Cheek; Willian, Olivier Giroud, Eden Hazard.
Frankfurt know they will have to score this evening at Stamford Bridge to produce the upset over the English side. Luka Jovic's goal put them ahead in the tie, but they were unable to get the second goal to put themselves in control at the Commerzbank-Arena. Adi Hutter's men were thrashed 6-1 at the weekend by Bayer Leverkusen, conceding all six goals in the first half. They cannot afford any lapses at the back tonight in their bid to advance to the final.
Chelsea hold a slight advantage over the German outfit after the first leg due to Pedro's strike, handing the Blues a vital away goal. Maurizio Sarri's men can play the contest at their own pace, although they will be wary of another comeback in Europe given the drama of the last couple of nights in the Champions League. The Blues ensured their place in the Champions League next term with a 3-0 win over Watford, easing the pressure on them for the contest and the demand for football at the highest level.
Good evening and welcome to the live commentary of the Europa League semi-final second leg clash between Chelsea and Eintracht Frankfurt at Stamford Bridge.
