Commentary

That's all from us today folks, we hope you enjoyed the game!
This victory sees Brighton sit second in the table, level on points with Liverpool and they will face Everton next time out in the league. Meanwhile Watford will look to get back to winning ways next weekend when they travel to Tottenham.
Brighton make it back-to-back wins with a 2-0 victory over Watford, thanks to first-half goals from Duffy and Maupay. The hosts dominated most of the game and fully deserved their triumph and could have scored a few more, with Connolly and Gross both going close. Watford never really got going and didn’t test Brighton until late on, but by then it was too late and the Seagulls comfortably saw the game out.
90' + 3' FULL-TIME: BRIGHTON 2-0 WATFORD
S. March
Yellow Card
90' + 1' March is booked late on for time-wasting after taking too long with a throw-in.
90' There will be a minimum of three minutes added time played at the end of the second half.
88' Brighton are just slowing the pace down whenever they can now, taking their time with throw-ins and not risking anything by throwing too many players forward in attack.
E. Mwepu
Yellow Card
86' Poor challenge by Mwepu on Etebo and he is quite rightly shown a yellow card by the referee.
84' Watford lost their last six away Premier League matches in the 2019-20 season, with only Norwich (6) earning fewer away points in the division that season than the Hornets (10). They last lost seven in a row in the top-flight in their final seven away games in 2016-17 under Walter Mazzarri.
82' There's less than 10 minutes left to play at the AMEX now, can Watford pull one back and make it a nervy finish? Or, will Brighton be able to wrap up the win with a third goal?
J. Moder
A. Lallana
80' Lallana is the final Brighton player to come off and he has been replaced by Moder.
79' CHANCES! Duffy rises highest at a corner and powers another header towards goal, but this time Cleverley is back on the line and clears it in the nick of time. Watford don't clear the danger and the ball falls to Gross on the edge of the box, who fires a low drive towards goal, but Bachmann makes a good save. Mac Allistar picks up the rebound, but his close range effort is off target.
T. Deeney
K. Sema
78' Third and final Watford substitution now, with Sema coming off and he has been replaced by Deeney.
76' King has been a threat since coming on for the visitors, he is linking up with Dennis more, but they just can't get the ball into his feet enough.
74' Watford haven't given their traveling supporters must to cheer about today, the visitors have just over 15 minutes to find two goals to get something out of this game.
E. Mwepu
L. Trossard
72' Brighton now with their second change of the game, with Trossard the man coming off and he has been replaced by Mwepu.
70' Not too far away! Hernandez shows great skill to control the ball and then turn and fire a volley towards the Brighton goal, however, he gets slightly too much on it and it flies just over the bar.
69' The home side has won just three of the last 13 league meetings between Brighton and Watford (D6 L4), including none of the last three such matches between the sides since a 2-0 Watford win at Vicarage Road in August 2018.
67' GOAL RULED OUT! Dennis is played through on goal by King and the striker races through on goal, beats one defender and then slides the ball past Sanchez and into the back of the net. However, the flag has already gone up for offside and the linesman is correct, as Dennis was well offside.
J. King
C. Cathcart
65' Here comes another Watford change and it's an attacking one, with Cathcart replaced by King.
S. Duffy
Yellow Card
65' Another Brighton booking now, with Duffy booked for his late challenge on Dennis, which catches the striker high on the leg. Poor challenge by the centre-back.
63' SAVE! Sanchez is called into action for the first time today, after Cleverley finds space on the edge of the box and he fires a low effort towards the bottom right corner of the net. However, the keeper reads it well and makes a good stop.
A. Webster
Yellow Card
62' Webster is shown the first yellow card of the game, after he pulls the shirt of Dennis as he looked to break forward.
60' Brighton have everyone back behind the ball defending at the moment, but are looking to counter quickly when they do win it back.
58' It may be time for Watford to look at making another change, as Sanchez is still yet to be tested in the Brighton goal and the visitors don't look like creating an opportunity.
56' Brighton work the ball nicely in the final third, finding plenty of space on the edge of the Watford box and Trossard opts to fire a shot at goal, but his effort flies high over the crossbar.
54' The hosts look very comfortable at the moment, they are playing the game at their own pace, with Watford not really showing much urgency to win it back and grab a goal. Brighton also look more dangerous in attack.
52' CHANCE! How did he miss? Connolly should make it 3-0! Brighton win the ball back in their own half and counter quickly up the pitch, with the ball falling to Gross down the right, who drills a low cross into the penalty area, which isn't cleared and it falls to Connolly. The striker turns quickly and smashes it towards the top left corner of the net, but it flies inches wide of the post.
50' Dennis got a goal and assist, while Hernández scored just 53 seconds after coming off the bench on their Premier League debuts for Watford last time out. The only player to score in both of his first two Premier League appearances for the Hornets is Heidar Helguson, who did so in January 2000.
48' Watford have started the second half slightly brighter, enjoying some early possession in midfield, but Brighton are pressing high and doing a good job of keeping them away from their final third.
A. Connolly
N. Maupay
46' Brighton have been forced into making a change ahead of the second half, with Maupay unable to carry on after picking up a shoulder injury and he has been replaced by Connolly.
J. Hernández
I. Louza
46' Hernandez comes on for Watford at the break, with Louza the man replaced. The substitute made an immediate impact last week, scoring from the bench within seconds of coming on.
46' The second half is under way!
Watford have a lot of improvement to make if they are to get anything out of this game, with Sarr and Dennis very quiet in attack, with the Brighton defence doing an excellent job of making sure they can't cause them any problems.
Brighton lead 2-0 at the break, thanks to Duffy’s powerful header on 10 minutes, which cannoned off the crossbar and over the line. Before Bissouma capitalised on a Watford mistake at the back and played it through to Maupay, who fired it past Bachmann to double their lead just before the break. The hosts have been on top and deserve their lead, with Watford unable to offer anything at the other end.
45' + 2' HALF-TIME: BRIGHTON 2-0 WATFORD
45' There will be a minimum of two minutes added time played at the end of the first half.
44' Injury concern here for Maupay, after a heavy challenge by Etebo and the striker lands awkwardly on his shoulder. The medical team are straight out onto the pitch and it looks like the striker is going to try and keep going until half-time.
43' Terrific end to the first half for Brighton, they will be delighted with their start to the game and deservedly hold a 2-0 lead.
Y. Bissouma
Assist
41' Bissouma immediately spotted the opportunity to win the ball back and pounced on the poor pass from Troost-Ekong and skipped past Cleverley, before laying it through to Maupay.
N. Maupay
Goal
41' GOAL! Maupay doubles Brighton’s lead just before the break, it’s 2-0! Bachmann plays the ball out to Troost-Ekong and he plays a sloppy pass to Cleverley, who didn’t really want it and Bissouma nicks it off his toes around 25 yards out. The midfielder then plays it through to Maupay on the edge of the box, who only had the keeper to beat and he produced a fine finish, firing it into the back of the net.
39' There isn’t long left to play before the end of the first half, can Brighton double their lead before the half-time whistle? Or, will Watford manage to score an equaliser?
37' There are plenty of options on the bench for Watford, with the likes of Deeney and King, as it looks like they may have to make some changes after the break if they are to get back into this game.
35' Brighton are just missing the end product at the moment, they are getting into some decent positions in the final third, but can't quite create a goalscoring opportunity, with Bachmann yet to have a save to make.
33' Maupay does well to get in behind the Watford defence after a long chip over the top, but the striker raises his foot high and almost catches Cathcart in the head as the pair battle for the ball.
31' We’re past the half an hour mark now and it remains Brighton who lead 1-0, thanks to Duffy's header after 10 minutes. It has been pretty comfortable for the hosts so far.
29' Brighton ended last season with a run of five consecutive unbeaten home Premier League games, only once enjoying a run of six without defeat at the AMEX in the division, doing so between September and November 2017 under Chris Hughton.
27' There have been a few crosses into the Watford box from the wings and no-one there to get on the end of it for Brighton. They need to get more players in the dangerzone.
25' Etebo is down receiving some treatment for a head injury at the moment, he made himself big and took the full force of a Bissouma free-kick. However, he should be fine to continue.
24' Into the wall! Bissouma steps up to take a free-kick in a good shooting position, but the Watford wall do its job well and make the block.
23' Free-kick to Brighton in a decent position, after Cleverley bundles into the back of Trossard and it hands the hosts a set piece around 30 yards out.
21' There hasn't been too much attacking intent from Brighton since taking the lead and Watford aren't showing much urgency at the other end either. No more chances for either team.
19' Almost! March does really well down the left wing, he dribbles into the Watford penalty area and almost finds space to get a shot away, but ends up running out of room and the visitors clear the danger.
17' Dennis hasn't been able to get involved much so far, the striker did brilliantly against Aston Villa last time out, scoring on his debut. However, he hasn't had a sniff yet today.
15' Brighton have never lost a home match against Watford in the top-flight (W1 D3), with just five goals scored in total in these four matches (three Brighton, two Watford).
13' Sarr picks up the ball in a dangerous position, around 30 yards out and he unleashes a powerful effort towards goal. However, he gets too much on it and it flies well over the crossbar.
12' Watford need to try and get the ball down and enjoy some possession of their own, as they've had to do a lot of chasing in the opening 10 minutes or so.
P. Groß
Assist
10' Gross delivers a lovely corner delivery into the box, straight onto the head of Duffy, who did brilliantly with the finish.
S. Duffy
Goal
10' GOAL! Brighton take the lead after 10 minutes, it’s 1-0! Gross whips a terrific corner delivery into the penalty area and Duffy rises above his marker and powers a header towards the top left corner. It strikes the crossbar and then bounces down over the line and into the back of the net. Great start for the hosts.
9' The visitors have hardly touched the ball so far, they seem quite happy to sit back and let Brighton enjoy possession in the middle of the pitch.
7' Brighton with the early possession here, they are set up in a 3-5-2 formation, with Gross and March down the wings, so they are stretching Watford at the moment in midfield.
5' Brighton counter quickly following a Watford corner that they deal with well, but Trossard gets the ball stuck under his feet on the halfway line and the visitors get players back to nullify the attack.
3' Over the bar! Bissouma unleashes the first shot at goal, after Maupay can't work the space for a shot himself and he lays it back to his team-mate. However, the effort flies high over the crossbar.
1' We're under way!
The teams are out on the pitch and kick-off is just a few minutes away, stay tuned for all the match action!
Watford have made just one change to the side that beat Villa last weekend, with Juraj Kucka missing out due to injury and he has been replaced by Louza.
The hosts have made two changes to their starting line-up, with Alzate and Mwepu dropping to the bench and they have been replaced by Mac Allister and Lallana.
WATFORD SUBS: Joshua King, Francisco Sierralta, Danny Rose, Cucho Hernandez, Jeremy Ngakia, Ashley Fletcher, Troy Deeney, Ben Foster, Kwadwo Baah.
WATFORD (4-5-1): Daniel Bachmann; Christian Kabasele, Craig Cathcart, William Troost-Ekong, Adam Masina; Ismaila Sarr, Tom Cleverley, Oghenekaro Etebo, Imran Louza, Ken Sema; Emmanuel Dennis.
BRIGHTON SUBS: Moises Caicedo, Aaron Connolly, Andi Zeqiri, Jakub Moder, Enock Mwepu, Jason Steele, Steven Alzate, Taylor Richards.
BRIGHTON (3-5-2): Robert Sanchez; Adam Webster, Shane Duffy, Lewis Dunk; Solly March, Alexis Mac Allister, Adam Lallana, Yves Bissouma, Pascal Gross; Leandro Trossard, Neal Maupay.
A win for Brighton will make it six games unbeaten at home, which would equal their Premier League record. They will be confident as Watford only managed two wins in 19 away games in the season they got relegated.
Both teams got the Premier League season off to a winning start, with Brighton beating Burnley 2-1. Meanwhile Watford marked their return to the top-flight with a 3-2 victory over Aston Villa.
