Commentary

That's all from us today folks, we hope you enjoyed the game!
This win moves Arsenal up to fifth in the table, level on points with West Ham in fourth who play Liverpool shortly. Meanwhile Watford drop to 17th. The Gunners will face Liverpool after the international break, while Watford go up against Manchester United.
Arsenal make it three wins on the bounce with a 1-0 victory over Watford, thanks to a second half strike from Smith Rowe. Arsenal had plenty of chances to open the scoring and Aubameyang missed a first-half penalty, but Smith Rowe managed to get the breakthrough goal on 57 minutes. Odegaard thought he had doubled their lead, but Aubemayang got a touch on the shot and was offside, so it was ruled out. Watford pushed forward late on, but couldn't find an equaliser and finished the match with 10-men, as Kucka was shown a second yellow late on.
90' + 7' FULL-TIME: ARSENAL 1-0 WATFORD
90' + 6' It doesn't look like Watford are going to be able to get back into this now, time is running out as we approach the full-time whistle.
A. Fletcher
C. Cathcart
Watford
90' + 4' Watford make a change as well, with Cathcart heading off and he has been replaced by Fletcher.
Gabriel Martinelli
B. Saka
Arsenal
90' + 3' Late Arsenal change, with Saka coming off and he has been replaced by Martinelli.
90' + 1' SAVE! Great stop by Foster to deny Lokonga! The midfielder catches the ball superbly on the edge of the penalty area and powers an effort towards goal, but it is too close to Foster, who produces an excellent save to deny him.
90' There will be a minimum of six minutes added time played at the end of the second half.
89' RED CARD! Kucka was booked in the first half and he is now shown a yellow and given his marching orders! The midfielder lost his cool and dived into a challenge with Tavares, catching the Arsenal man late and the referee had no choice but to award a free-kick and send him off.
88' Arsenal are trying to counter quickly up the pitch when they can and catch Watford out at the back as they are throwing so many players forward at the other end.
Mohamed Elneny
E. Smith Rowe
Arsenal
86' Late Arsenal change now, with Smith Rowe heading off to an excellent ovation from the home fans and Elneny is his replacement.
86' CHANCE! Ramsdale makes a huge mistake at the back and King almost capitalises! The keeper rushes out of his goal when he didn't need to and completely misses the ball, which sends King through, but he has a very tight angle to aim at. Luckily for the keeper, his effort flies into the sidenetting.
85' Kucka lines up a shot from distance, but it is too close to Ramsdale, who makes a comfortable save. The keeper is very unhappy with his defence for not pressing high enough.
84' There is a nervous atmosphere inside the Emirates at the moment, with not long left to play, but Watford are pushing forward and only need one opportunity to get back into this.
82' Ranieri has never beaten Arsenal in the Premier League in 11 attempts (D4 L7), losing his last five away league games against the Gunners. Arsenal are the only side Ranieri has faced at least five times in his top-flight managerial career and never beaten.
Gabriel Magalhães
Yellow Card
Arsenal
80' Gabriel is booked now after a high challenge on Joao Pedro as he catches the Watford man in the face.
78' Not too far away! Smith Rowe latches onto the ball inside the penalty area after it bounces dangerously around the box and Watford fail to clear the danger. However, his effort sails over the Watford bar.
76' The longer it remains 1-0, the more confidence Watford will have of getting something out of this match. They are seeing much more of the ball now.
J. Hernández
E. Dennis
Watford
74' Watford make their second change now, with Dennis the man coming off and he has been replaced by Hernandez.
73' OFFSIDE! Saka once again has the beating of Rose down the wing and he pulls the ball back to Odegaard, who drills a low strike towards the bottom left corner of the net. However, Aubameyang dives in at the far post and gets the slightest of touches on it. The striker is in an offside position and therefore the goal is ruled out.
71' There is still plenty of time left on the clock for Watford to get back into this one, but Arsenal look very comfortable in all areas of the pitch. A second goal for the hosts would surely put the win beyond doubt.
M. Ødegaard
A. Lacazette
Arsenal
69' Arsenal make their first change now, with Lacazette the man heading off and he has been replaced by Odegaard.
68' Almost! Saka delivers a superb cross into the penalty area and Aubameyang throws himself at it, but can't quite reach it and Foster gratefully gathers.
66' No player has been directly involved in more Premier League goals for Arsenal this season than Smith Rowe (6 – 4 goals, 2 assists).
64' The visitors are showing a bit more attacking intent, with King receiving some support up top now that Joao Pedro has come on. However, Ramsdale is still yet to have a save to make.
João Pedro
O. Tufan
Watford
62' Here comes the Watford substitution, with Tufan the man coming off and he has been replaced by Joao Pedro.
60' Watford might want to start thinking about making some changes soon, as they are second best at the moment and Arsenal look keen to double their lead.
58' Stoppage in play here before the restart as Sarr is down receiving some medical treatment for a challenge that happened in the build-up to the Arsenal goal. However, he should be fine to continue shortly.
E. Smith Rowe
Goal
Arsenal
56' GOAL! ARSENAL TAKE THE LEAD! Smith Rowe finally gets the breakthrough goal and fires Arsenal 1-0 ahead! Watford fail to clear the danger on the edge of the penalty area, with White racing forward, but his path is blocked and the ball falls to Smith Rowe, who drills a low shot towards goal. It takes a slight deflection and beats Foster in the Watford goal.
55' There have been a lot of fouls today by Watford, with the visitors doing anything to try and stop Arsenal from creating chances and opening the scoring.
M. Sissoko
Yellow Card
Watford
54' Sissoko is the latest player to be booked now, after he pulls the shirt of Saka as the Arsenal winger turns away from him.
P. Aubameyang
Yellow Card
Arsenal
52' Aubameyang battles for the ball with Femenia and the Arsenal skipper dives into a challenge and catches the Watford defender late.
51' Watford beat Everton 5-2 in their last away Premier League match and are looking for consecutive away wins in the competition for the first time since September 2017 under Marco Silva.
49' The second period has started off similar to how the first half ended, with Arsenal on top and controlling possession, but not able to test the Watford defence.
47' Decent chance! Saka does well down the right wing, getting to the byline and then pulls a cross back to Lacazette, who lays it back to Lokonga, who tries to curl the ball into the back of the net. However, Foster gets across and makes a good stop.
46' The second half is under way!
Watford haven't had much to shout about at the other end, as they've had to defend for the most part of the game, but Kucka did go close late on. Meanwhile Arsenal need to show more intensity in the final third in order to break through the resilient visitors' defence.
It’s goalless at the break between Arsenal and Watford, but the Gunners have had the ball in the back of the net as Saka thought he had given Arsenal an early lead, but VAR reviewed the footage and it was rightly ruled out for offside. Rose then handed Arsenal a great opportunity to go ahead, after barging into Lacazette in the box and the referee pointed to the penalty spot. However, Aubameyang missed the opportunity, with Foster making a superb save to keep his side in it.
45' + 3' HALF-TIME: ARSENAL 0-0 WATFORD
45' + 2' It doesn't look like either side are going to be able to open the scoring before the break, with Arsenal in possession, but aren't doing much with it.
45' There will be a minimum of three minutes added time played at the end of the first half.
44' There isn’t long left to play before the end of the first half, can either side break the deadlock before the half-time whistle?
43' SAVE! Another excellent stop by Foster to deny Arsenal! Gabriel meets a deep corner delivery at the far post and powers a header down into the ground and Foster has to react quickly to make the save with his legs.
42' Rose is very lucky to get away with another warning, as he should have been shown a yellow card for a deliberate trip on Lacazette. The Arsenal fans are furious that he has got off lightly.
40' CLOSE! Not too far away at all by Kucka! The midfielder does well to nick the ball of Lokonga in the final third and then fire a low effort towards the bottom left corner of the net. However, White gets across and manages to get a touch on it, which sends the shot wide of the post.
38' That's a goal ruled out and a missed penalty for Arsenal so far today, they'll be hoping that these opportunities don't come back to haunt them later on.
B. Foster
Penalty Save
Watford
36' GREAT SAVE! It really was a great stop from Foster to keep Watford level. Rose will be very grateful to his goalkeeper after the former Tottenham man gave away the spot-kick for his challenge on Lacazette.
P. Aubameyang
Penalty Miss
Arsenal
36' MISSED PENALTY! Aubameyang goes for power rather than precision and Foster makes a superb save to deny Arsenal the opener! Foster dived the right way and got a touch of luck with a combination of his arm and leg blocking the shot, before showing great agility to dive on the rebound before the striker can get to it.
34' ARSENAL PENALTY! Rose clatters into Lacazette as the pair challenge for a high ball in the penalty area and the Watford man seems to strike the Arsenal striker with his arm. It's very late and he gets nowhere near the ball. The referee thinks about it for a second and then points to the spot.
33' We’re past the half an hour mark now and it remains goalless between Arsenal and Watford, but the Gunners have had the ball in the back of the net, only for it to be ruled out for offside.
J. Kucka
Yellow Card
Watford
31' Another booking now, this time it is shown to Kucka after he dives into the back of Lacazette and gets nowhere near the ball. Poor challenge by the Watford man.
T. Tomiyasu
Yellow Card
Arsenal
30' Sarr comes over to the left wing and runs at Tomiyasu and skips past the Arsenal right-back, who catches him late. Tomiyasu is booked.
29' Decent opportunity! Saka whips a low free-kick into the box from the right wing and Lacazette meets it at the near post, but his header is blocked and then falls to Lokanga, who also sees his effort blocked.
27' Arsenal have looked the most dangerous down the wings so far, with Smith Rowe and Saka both playing well early on and are stretching the visitors defence.
25' Since losing against both West Brom and Newcastle in 2010-11, Arsenal are unbeaten in their last 31 Premier League home games against promoted sides (W26 D5). The Gunners have only failed to score in one of those matches, a goalless draw with Middlesbrough in October 2016.
23' This is a bit better from Watford, seeing more of the ball and they have looked more confident at the back, not allowing Arsenal as much time and space in possession in the final third.
21' Stoppage in play here as Dennis is down with an injury and is having to receive some medical treatment on the pitch, but it looks like he will be fine to continue shortly.
A. Lokonga
Yellow Card
Arsenal
20' Lokonga is the first Arsenal man to be booked after he deliberately brings down Kucka as he looks to break forward and then shoves him to the ground as the pair clash afterwards.
20' Penalty shout! Aubameyang half-heartedley appeals for a penalty after a coming together with Nkoulou in the box, but that would have been very soft and nothing is given by the referee.
18' The pace is very slow at the moment, with not much happening as Arsenal are just keeping it in midfield and going at their own pace. Arsenal haven't come close to scoring since the disallowed goal.
16' The visitors have hardly touched the ball so far and they are struggling to get out of their own half at times, as Arsenal continue to pile on the pressure.
14' The Arsenal goal that has been ruled out should be a warning to Watford, as they'll need to improve at the back in order to prevent a similar scenario occuring.
12' Arsenal have won 11 of their 14 Premier League meetings with Watford (D1 L2), scoring at least once every single time they’ve faced the Hornets in the competition.
J. King
Yellow Card
Watford
10' The first yellow card of the game is shown to King after a foul on Gabriel as the pair battle for the ball.
8' NO GOAL! VAR take a look at the Arsenal goal and it is ruled out for offside! Foster managed to get a touch to Lacazette's chipped shot and Saka was behind the Watford keeper when he made this touch, so he is therefore in an offside position.
7' ARSENAL GOAL? It’s poor defending from Watford as they lose it on the edge of the penalty area and Maitland-Niles slides it into the path of Lacazette, who tries to chip Foster, but he gets a hand to it and sends it into path of Aubameyang. However, the striker takes a poor touch and Saka picks it up and powers it into the back of the net from close range. VAR are going to take a look though, as it may be ruled out for offside.
5' Watford have a very tricky run of games coming up after the international break, so any points today would be key. They face Man United, Leicester, Chelsea and Man City in their next four matches.
3' Bright start here by Arsenal, they are keeping the ball well in midfield and win an early corner, but Watford comfortably clear the danger up the pitch.
